Skyline moves to 6-0 with 88-63 victory over Brentsville

The Hawks got off to a fast start, then fell behind in the third quarter, before eventually cruising to an 88-63 victory over Brentsville District High School on Tuesday night in Front Royal. Skyline had 11 different players getting into the scoring column on the night.

Skyline jumped out to a 19-10 lead at the end of the first quarter behind Sophomore Zack Diggs, who ended up with 15 points for the game. Brentsville was able to cut the lead to one by halftime, behind Brandon Forst who scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the first half, including 3 of his 5 3-pointers coming before the break.

The Hawks lost the lead early in the third quarter, before exploding for 28 third quarter points. Budder Haley was the leader for the Hawks both in scoring and rebounding, ending the game with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Marlon Jackson also came to life in the 2nd half, scoring all 11 of his points after halftime and grabbing 8 rebounds on the night. Skyline substituted liberally in the 4th quarter, but still put another 27 points on the scoreboard in the frame, with Blake Sibert hitting twice from 3-point range, and Adonis Lawrence scoring 5 points down low.

Skyline is now 6-0 overall and in Class 3 Northwestern district. The Hawks will travel to George Mason on Friday night, who are fresh off a victory over Manassas Park.
