The Smithfield Packers improved to 15-1 with a 49-43 win over Tallwood. The Packers built a 13-point lead at halftime lead to only see Tallwood come back to tie the game at 38. MVP Marcus Custis scored four straight points to help the Packers pull away.
Custis only played 13 minutes but finished with 13 points scoring a point for every minute on the floor. Custis had nine points in the 1st half as Smithfield took a 29-16 lead into the halftime break. Custis sat out the entire 3rd quarter and the Packers offense suffered scoring only five 3rd quarter points.
Tallwood went on a 9-0 run in the 4th quarter and tied the game with the help of five straight points from Tyree Golston with 4:09 left in the game. But Tallwood would go into a draught after tying the game and trailed Smithfield 45-38 with 1:03 remaining in the game.
Keon Tucker added 12 points including three treys while Sascha Stafford added 12 rebounds and eight points. Football star Chris Pierce grabbed nine boards while adding four points and two assists. Ryan Jones had three assists and six points.
Tallwood's Adrian Beasley led all scorers with 18 points. Troy Starks had four points and nine rebounds while Golston had seven points and three steals.
