So most of this info is from vhsl site...but that ain't perfect.
1. George Mason: I think there are cracks in armor, and they could be beaten this year, but not easily.
2. Graham: Still plugging along and winning games. A very different team than last year, but also they haven't played anyone of true quality yet.
3. Bruton: A solid team battling to get back in the finals.
4. Giles: I nearly moved them to 2, but they have only played Galax twice and Narrows twice. Once they get through Graham, Radford, and James River they could move up.
5. Wilson/WandL (tie): Quality wins and work
6. James River: One terrible loss to LB. They can easily win that conference over Giles.
7. Dan River: Honestly this could be as high as three spot. They will really have to turn it on in the coming months to stay there.
8. VA High: For simple reasons of an easy schedule and experience.
9. Martinsville: They always show up late in season. I think they are weaker than most of the top west schools, but still plenty of season.
10. I dunno...Floyd (foreign exchange kids) could help...Richlands...and East school I don't know jack about.

I looked hard at Maggie Walker. I am curious to their ability to be a factor later in season given their surrounding schools. They could easily go in at 8-10.

The top ten seems a bit West-biased, which I understand. Here is a top ten from an East perspective:
1. Mason- until someone from 2A can beat them
2. Maggie Walker- has tied a Top-25 in Nation team (Deep Run) and competitive in a 5A conference.
3. Bruton- they lost some good players but have great players back. May not be very deep. Playing up in Conference will help them.
4. Prince Edward- unbeaten and has transfer students from Germany and Holland.
5. Stuarts Draft- better early season results than Wilson.
6. Robert E Lee- comparable to SD, but better early season results against common opponents.
7. Goochland- only loss to Prince Edward
8. Central-Woodstock and Graham- if Graham is the top ranked West team they probably belong here. Traditionally the East teams top 5 or 6 can beat the top West teams (Martinsville the exception). Central has done well early this year and had a decent result against Mason (1-4 loss).
9. Giles- if that is the consensus West 2 team.
10. Martinsville and James River.- always competitive when playoffs start.

Right now the East should be between Mason, Maggie Walker and Bruton. Nandua is always a possible question mark- good coaching and always a mystery of players. Dan River has already lost twice to marginal competition and should not be ranked. Wilson has gotten marginal results against some teams that bottom Bull Run teams have trounced. I do not see a West team making it into the final, so that has been taken into my rankings. I think the East will be a tougher road than the West.

I disagree. I think the East is predictable. It will be GM and some other second tier team. That other question mark school may or may not beat the #1 in the West. But there is quality soccer here to fight into the final. I was not being West biased in my ranking, simply going off of results reported. I'm just throwing in what I see. For example, I personally do not see Graham as two, but the results and state ranking show otherwise. That being said, Maggie Walker will not be a factor in the final four. If I'm wrong, I will gladly admit it...but I doubt I'm wrong.

CMC- I respect your rankings. It is good to get a West perspective. Hard to rank West (or East) teams when you have not seen them play. My rankings are East biased due to not have seen any West teams in action. Good luck to all teams. Have a great season and I hope we all stay healthy.

Oh sure. I'm not offended at all. I am actually glad someone is posting on here from the East. I will give a more detailed perspective after this week, but I have a feeling the West is going to offer up one quality team, one decent team, and a bunch of middling teams. That said, weather had kept many schools from playing more than 4 games thus far, and those are with county rivals or weaker schools they are obliged to. Not really fair to make bold statements when you've played no even match games. Keep us posted on some those central/east scores in the April scores page if you can.

DR only has two losses: a 1-0 game played at the beginning of the season in sub-40 degrees and windy weather. Their other loss was to Appomattox, who leads Conference 37.
