I will start by saying what a game, a game that was entertaining from start to finish.
Battlefield wins the coin toss and defers, electing to receive to start the second half.
South County lives up to their explosive reputation in the first 12 seconds as running back Avery darted off the left side for a 60 plus yard TD. Outside of a Battlefield fumble that was returned for a TD, SC was dominated the rest of the first half.
SC loaded the box and tried to play one on one with the receivers, it turned into something that looked like 7on7 as Matt Gallagher put on a show hitting Zac Kerxton for 3 TD's in the first quarter. In the second quarter SC started rolling coverage to double team Kerxton and found some success but gave up a TD on a nice corner route giving the Gallagher - Kerxton combo 4 TD's before the half. With the coverage rolled over the top Corey Parker was able to find room and started dinging SC for nice gains that finally lead to a rushing score. Battlefield up 34-15 at the half.
BF receives the kickoff and marches down the field to make it 41-15, a few BF penalties threating the drive, those 7 points turnout to be the differences.
SC caught fire and started finding success off the left side and ran 7 - 10 straight plays adding 14 quick points. SC was able to add one more score making it 41-36 before BF's defense came up with a few huge stops. Truly a great game to attend, both teams should be proud for how they competed!
Shout out to BF's O-line, thought they played outstanding and gave Matt time to get the ball down field. Also a shout out to SC's TE Lucas… good looking kid that played great.
A funny insight I want to share… SC players had some fun before the game tweeting out how they were traveling to "Hick Town" to play this game. Never mind BF is flanked by gated communities so in good spirt the "Den" and fans dressed in camouflage, and during halftime the PA rocked some Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brother and Molly Hatchet. Impressed how BF had a little fun with the comments made earlier.
