Game Recap Southampton Academy Wins 3rd Straight State Title

Southampton Academy won it's 3rd straight DIII State championship with a 6-5 win over the Fuqua School at Shepard Stadium in Colonial Heights.

The Raiders scored three runs in the bottom of the 5th inning then took the lead for good with a run in the 6th inning. The big blow was a Sam Rose 2-run triple.

The Falcons defense broke down at the wrong time committing three errors to load the bases to start the bottom of the 6th inning. Grant Little scored on a passed ball for the game winning run.

Brooks Holland allowed five runs while striking out seven batters in six innings to earn the win. Caleb Kidd got the final three outs to get the save.

Leadoff batter Tyler Dobson went 2 for 3 with two RBI. Rose had a triple and two RBI.

Christian Williams went 3 for 3 from the plate for Fuqua School while Hunter Gilliam drove in two runs.
