I stand by my preseason tweet from July...
That team passed the eye test when I saw them at CNU Team Camp as the quite possibly the best VHSL team I've seen since 2008 Phoebus or Oscar Smith. High praise considering both were nationally-ranked with Phoebus finishing No. 3 in the country by Rivals that year.
Thought York looked pretty darn good over there, too, in that camp. We all saw what they were capable of with ending Lafayette's 60-game district win streak on Friday. So it wasn't a matter of them beating up on cream-puffs either.
Thing to me is I think we've seen some other teams in VA over the years more interested in the 'style points' to win by a certain margin than Highland Springs, whereas - the feeling to me from watching them and based on conversations with Loren Johnson - is that the Springers are more interested in getting their '2's' (the backups) ready when they get a sizable lead than running up the margin.
Just my two cents.
