Highland Springs, VA
Highland Springs will take their troops over to Henrico HS next Friday night to take on The Hen. I know HSHS will have their horses ready, their gun slinger ready, the beef stacked up front ready and THE DEFENSE will be ready!

2 high octane offenses on the show who can score in bunches! Who has the defense that can disrupt and put the clamps on the opposing offense?
My prediction on this one:
HSHS 35
HEN 21.

I've been looking forward to this one since the preseason. I'll be there.

Neither team has been challenged thus far... First time for everything!

Henrico v Deep Run was 28-15 at the half with 2 defensive and 1 offensive starter out due to injury. DR also lost Aiden Wheeler at the end of the 1st half. Henrico did lose Jahad Carter near the end of the 2nd Q when he was ejected for targeting. Jalon Jones did not play after that either but I never heard why. No doubt Henrico was the better team and they may have had a little bit of a let down after beating Herm. They will need to look more like that squad to avoid shredded by the Springers. Unfortunuately for Henrico, I think HS gets really fired up to play area teams that think they can challenge the Springers.

Lee Davis did that last year....talking smack about HS saying they were going to beat them. It was 42-0 last year, 71-8 this year.

Who was smack-talking from L-D last year? I’m not doubting, just curious who was that stupid...

I know a lot of people thought DR would potentially win the Colonial. I picked Glen Allen but I guess we are long way off. Has DR played to the level they are capable of yet? do they have another gear?

If HSHS blows out Henrico then the competitive balance isn’t even fair anymore. I hope it is a competitive game for the regions sake.

Does Highland Springs have to blow them out in order to make a statement? If it is a close game does a shadow of doubt appear over them? If we lost, are we suddenly not a contender?

Don't know names. They were doing some taunting before the game. Henrico's players did it at HS last year too. Last year HS beat Henrico 23-6 then again 28-14.

Wow, sure kids are stupid sometimes, but that’s a special kind of stupid...

Absolutely not... if you win a good game that is the best case scenario. Everyone on gods green earth knows your a contender. I’m confused at what you are getting at? Is that what you took from my above statement or are you just posing the question? HSHS is EVERYONE’s favorite to win handily week in and week out. I just hope it is a good competitive game that’s all.

Dont think thats what Mbonape1 was implying at all.. I believe he was saying if HSHS blew out Henrico then the Springers had no competition and their edge would only increase in the future. I also like it when there is equal competition in districts.

I am not from Richmond, but it seems HSHS has developed a fine program and all of the best players want to be part of it. That is both good and bad. Dont think mega programs that garner (not saying or believe they recruit) the best players from all of Henrico is good for the sport though.

Manchester appears to be doing the same thing. My own school Salem enjoyed the same luxury for years. Didnt have to recruit everyone wanted to be a Spartan. Good for us but bad for our competition.

It's just a curious question.

HSHS did have 3 transfers in. A WR, a WR/DB and a Lineman. The lineman hasn't been cleared yet I think. He is not playing yet. One of the WRs lives in Highland Springs, but went to Hermitage for their Specialty school, but is now at HSHS. It's not that HS has a big influx of outside talent coming. Our own kids, through the program starts at childhood, then come up through middle school to High school. 99% of them are our own kids.

DR graduated a lot of key players and are playing a lot of sophs. So far keeping guys healthy has been a challenge. How well and how quickly the young guys develop will determine how well this team does. Before the season, I would not have picked them to win the Colonial; too many question marks. I'm encouraged with some of the development that I have seen thus far. Played well enough to beat Herm 40-14 on a sloppy field.
