Not trying to get ahead, but which region plays which region and where?

Is it A vs B and C vs D?

Neutral field or is there a pre-designated host?

Thanks everyone!

A/B and C/D at the team between the 2 with highest rating.

I dont have the points in front of me, but technically (4) Luray could host (1) Goochland if their power point rating was higher

So it's based on the regular season power ratings then?

Does someone have an easy accessibility to those ratings?

I'm curious to see the final ratings - thanks!

Ok so went over to the VHSL website - here's the Regular Season power ratings I saw for the teams still left:

27.0 Union
26.6667 Goochland
26.6 Glenvar
26.55 Appomattox
26.4 Graham
26.1 R E Lee
25.6 Luray
24.8 Poquoson

So the only way Lee/Luray winner would host would be if Poquoson beats Goochland - is that correct?
Otherwise, Goochland will host Lee/Luray winner.

Also, if Union beats Graham, they host Glenvar/Appomattox winner no matter who wins that game?

But if Graham wins, then the Glenvar/Appomattox winner gets to host?

Power points are off a hair. Out of the remaining teams it's Union, Glenvar,Appo in third

If the winner of A/B plays the winner of C/D then how did Appo (C) play Richlands (D) in the championship game last year? Am I missing something?

They cross bracketed and it was just East Region and West Region. This year it is A Region winner against B Region winner and team with most power points hosts semi final game Same goes for the C Region versus D Region. Winner of those games advance to championship game in Salem.

For the past few years, there was 16 in East and 16 in west. When there were 4 left (2east and 2 west) then they cross bracketed. Meaning, the highest remaining seed in East hosted lowest remaining in west and vice versa. Then the 2 winners played

Didn't look at all points, but yes winner of Lee and Luray would travel to Goochland or host Poquoson

Keep this in mind with the power ratings. The power ratings used are the one's at the end of the regular season (after game 10). They do not "recalculate" the power ratings throughout the playoffs, so at the end of the regular season, whatever you have is what you finish with. So, as of right now,

In Region A and B, you have in order, Goochland, Lee, Luray, Poqouson
In Region C and D, you have in order, Union, Glenvar, Appo, Graham

Therefore, it's not about the highest "seed" in Region A hosting the lowest seed in Region B to determine home field. It's who has the highest power rating. There is also no need to put all 8 teams in order of power rating because that is useless. The State Title Game is on a neutral field, so you only need to worry about your side of the state. For example, for Poqouson to play in the state title game, they have to travel this week and win, and automatically travel next week and win, because all 3 remaining teams in Region A and B have a higher power rating. An example......Luray had the 4th highest power rating in Region B so they were the "4" seed in Region B at the start of the playoffs. Poquoson was the second highest power rating team in Region A, so they were the "2" seed in Region A to start the playoffs. If Poquoson wins and Luray wins, Poquoson travels to Luray, even though Poquoson was a 2 seed in its region and Luray was a 4 seed in its region, it's about which team has the highest power rating at the start of the playoffs (end of the regular season).
