State Semi Bracket Question

When will be the next time the State Semifinal bracket Region Champion opponents will change? Region C and D square off and Region A and B to determine the finalists. It should change every year IMO. Class 4 seems very balanced so it's not so bad. In Class 5 though, now that Broad Run and Tuscarora have moved down, it seems to be top heavy with strong teams on the Region A/B side of the bracket.

They're cross-bracketing the basketball semifinals in classes 3-6 this year, so maybe they are starting to move out of cost-containment mode a bit. Although IIRC even in the old three-class setup they generally didn't rotate the semifinal pairings in divisions 1-4.

Regions A and B have been begging for this since realignment. @DEVILSLB99, may be able to shed more light on this. I may be wrong, but my understanding from a very valid source was the schools in the "old" west region (C and D) did not want to cross bracket. Lets be honest, in Class 4 many of these travel myths have been broken in the past few years. Regular season games: Dinwiddie/Salem, GW/Dinwiddie, Salem/Martinsburg, and LT/Freedom to name a few. Participating schools need to quit using travel as an excuse. I know the coaches dreaded it, but I absolutely loved the series with Salem and our fans did not mind the drive.

The VHSL is really against cross bracketing and a lot of it is coming from the schools out west. Missed class time and travel days for sports outside of football are used as reasons for why we shouldn't cross bracket.
The VHSL lost a lot of money the last years under Tilley and since they forced the AvB CvD model they made money, so in their eyes why change? Now with that being said the new regime led by Dr. Haun at the VHSL is open to cross bracketing and doing it on a class by class basis instead of one size fits all for the whole state, but with one caveat if A plays D then they are ONLY going to reimburse travel for mileage for A v B distance even if A going to D is another 100 miles. We will cross bracket in Class 4 basketball this year at the semifinal level.
