State semifinal question

Last year was based on points. I think this year it was predetermined. I assume it is because of Covid. Basketball state semifinals had a predetermined host as well. Same for the state championship
I think it was pre-determined this year because of covid. That A hosts B and D hosts C in semi final, and that A/B winner hosts C/D winner in state championship. I think that had to do with Salem not allowing championship games to be played there. Somebody correct me if Im wrong on that.
Last year and for a few years points decided the host team. Keep in mind Region D is the host only after you have gone thru the first two rounds and have a region C champion. I wish they had left it points based.
Agreed , the team that has the highest points deserve to get to host as long as they have a good enough facility. Even the state championships. Its BS to predetermine who gets to host state champioships .
Im fine with a predetermined championship site as long as it's centralized and doesn't make any travel from one end of the state to the extreme opposite end. Just look at our neighbors next door. Not too long ago, they had 2 teams less than 10 miles from the VA line on their southern border as the bird flies have to travel to the last knuckle on your middle finger just to play in their title game when they couldve met half in Princeton and been done with it.
I agree with using the highest points but with only 500 allowed is there really any facility that shouldn’t be allowed to host this year? If they couldn’t host 500 then in reality they shouldn’t host regular season games. If it was a wide open year, I could see a few schools not having adequate facilities for 3000-5000 but we aren’t talking about that. Not gonna lie, it pisses me off that if Riverheads advances we have to travel to the region A winner that will have less points. In the end it will all work out anyway. I would ask who is getting shorted this year with predetermining the region that will host?
For football or all sports? Just asking since we just had basketball played at home gyms and nobody batted an eye.
Just my opinion but I would like all state championship games played at neutral sites regardless of the sport
If Galax or Narrows advance to semifinal both teams out pointed anyone from region D if I'm not mistaken but will still have to travel to someone else's homefield
Region C in all 6 classifications are the ones shorted (not looking at points).
They are the ONLY Region that doesn't have the ability to host either Semifinals or Finals.
The biggest winner is Region A as they would host both Semifinals and Finals if they are in it.
Region B can host Final but not Semifinals, Region D can host Semifinals but not finals.
As for Points, that would be logical, BUT not flawless. Just because I do those points for the board, just look at Class 2. Graham is undefeated and played 5 games, so I am good with that. 2nd highest points, Nottoway with 3 games (Cumberland, Central Lunenburg, and Amelia). Heck, Appomattox is 6-0 and tied for 3rd with Stuarts Draft at 22.00.
Even if 2a came out the same way, I think what should have been done is to rotate between classes. Not ALL A host B, D host C, and A/B host C/D. I certainly don't think it was done on purpose, but it appears biased towards A and against C

I get it because the Gladiators are in the same boat having to go to Region A winner regardless of points. It sucks but isn’t the end of the world, I am more pissed I can’t walk up to the gate and get in. Like many of you, I have traveled all over the state to watch games but this year we won’t get that as an option.
No one here can recall a bygone era when everything in football was pre-determined. Heck, Middlesex hosted consecutive state championship games because of a quirk in the system beating Appalachia one year then getting the pants beat off them the next year after leading 7-0 (1993 and 1994)
