I think the 6A semi-finals are about as interesting as it gets. I think we truly have the four best teams in the state and I think they are all capable of beating one another on a given night with the right breaks. So, before I say this, let me put this caveat in. I do believe these teams are closely matched.
However, I don't necessarily think that means these games will be close. The teams have so much fire power that I can see one teams playmakers getting hot and grabbing a turnover or two and the game will turn into a 3 or 4 TD victory and we'll all be on here next week talking about how one of the teams wasn't for real. I just believe when there is that much talent out there somebody might be "feeling it" and make a few plays and we'll all be shaking our heads and wondering "How did that happen."
Nobody's going to lose big this weekend because they're not great. Somebody's going to win really big because they all are.
So I'm saying at least one and maybe both games are going to not be suspenseful in the fourth quarter, but I'm definitely too much of a chicken to say who the winners will be.
Nah, who cares: I'll pick Oscar Smith and Centreville because I hate change.
Seriously, good luck to all four teams. Your players, coaches and programs are amazing and you have the respect of this old man. Go get 'em, leave it all out on the field and win or lose, hold your heads high. You've done great things this season.
