Can any of you equate and share how big of a deal the new Aquatic Center is that has been built inside the Regency Mall, (old Macy's building)?

The news is portraying it as something that will elevate aquatic sports to a level near to that of northern virginia. There is one pool that is 100% the size and caliper of an Olympic level pool, and several ancillary pools and areas. I'm not sure of the diving facilities.

EPjr, you have your hand on the pulse of things like this. What can you tell us?

dang man I had forgotten about that. There are several swimming clubs and even high school teams in the area. But this is olympic quality with the coaching to go with it. The pub maybe a little over the top but we shall see.

Anything that provides opportunities in athletics is a good thing. Especially at the high school and below level.

Henrico leaders tour new NOVA Aquatics Center at Regency

In March 2019, county leaders announced plans to replace the former Macy’s with an $18 million swimming facility featuring an eight-lane 50-meter pool and two three-lane 25-yard pools.
