Surprised Union got the W over RV, but 2-7 in the M7 could beat each other on any given night.

It's time for my reminder to you that Union is now 0-13 all time vs Ridgeview in girls.... :D

Which is crazy... Union is the much better team on paper. Frazier just knows how to outcoach Bostic.

the only thing holding back the Union girls from becoming a bona fide girls basketball powerhouse is coaching. With the talent that's been on that floor, Union only having one deep playoff run is criminal.

Look pal, it's easy to arm-chair coach and take pop shots behind the scenes. Maybe you should coach Union's girls since you feel you could do better.

I consider Bostic a friend. I went to school with him at Haysi back in the day. But this is the third time (at least) that Union should have beat Ridgeview but came up short.

1. Tuesday night
2. A couple of years ago in Big Stone, Union had a 23 point lead with less than 4 minutes to play, and Ridgeview came all the way back and won on a buzzer beater at the end of regulation
3. The 2016 state title game. Union had Ridgeview beat in that game and somehow blew that one as well, losing on Kayla Mullins' 2,000th career point as the game winner

@BigWinners is right about the talent. From McKinney in 2016 to the Lipps girl to the girls they have this year. The talent is there, yet they can't seem to win the district title or beat the teams that normally do (Ridgeview, Wise Central). Folks are always going to question coaching when the talent is there but results aren't produced.

Bostic is that you? Where did I say that I could do better dummy? I didnt. I said that with the amount of talent Union has had on the girls side, the fact they aren't a regular contender for Region titles falls on the coaching side. There were times Wise won state titles and I could argue they were the third most purely talented team in the M7. Now I don't expect anyone else to be as good as Robin Dotson, he's arguably the GOAT, but Union never seems to overachieve, if anything they underachieve.

I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, and maybe I'm wrong, it's just one person's opinion, quit being a baby.

2016 was the most heartbreaking, but at least I felt like RV had comparable talent. Syd was a monster, she's producing at an elite level at E&H, but RV had the Mullins girl and I believe one of the Frazier girls. Union had that game won, but just blew it at the end.

The 20+ point lead is The worst. You almost have to try to lose to give away 25 points in the fourth quarter of a HS game. That's usually around 1/3rd of the total points in a game and you let a team make it up in four minutes. Insane.

The discussion is good, but it can be done without getting personal.

I happen to know of another situation that rivals the 23 pt blunder of Union against Ridgeview. Another team from SWVA just a few years ago that beat Wise Central 4 or 5 times throughout the season before meeting them in the state championship then losing to them. Twice the talent on that squad.....but what alot of people would consider a coaching blunder. However....looking on the other side of the court in that situation, you've got arguably the best girls BB coach in the state of VA. The Devils have fell on their face alot when they've had some really talented teams.

in my opinion union girls team is not that good this year, they have prob the best up and coming group of freshmen in the area but i have seen them play and i can tell you they are prob 4th best in the m7,

I agree this year. Maybe 3rd best but not the top. But previous years, the talent vs. results gap was much larger I believe.

Man that was absolutely a shocking loss. GC handled the Wise girls like five times that year But when it mattered the most, Robin Dotson proved he was maybe the best girls coach in the state and took it right out from under GC.

We can join th same support group, losing to a conference rival in a state title game when you feel like your team had more talent lol
