Normally I'd do a preseason top 10, but I'm admittedly still in football mode. With that said, here's some teams that I look to make some noise this year. This list is in no particular order and also feel free to add teams that you think could also make some noise. I'll do a top 10 at a later date

Preseason:
West Point
Lancaster
Altavista
Riverheads
Surry
Parry McCluer
Auburn
George Wythe
Twin Springs
Eastside
Burton

Don’t sleep on Buffalo Gap. Friend who lives in the area tells me they got a Shooting Guard who’s pretty dang good. Don’t know since I’m an ole Dobyns Bennett supporter.

Thanks for putting my Gladiators on your list and I hope you are right and that they have a good year. The pieces are definitely there and as always competing in the Shenandoah will toughen them up. But also, as always, they will have less time than others to mold themselves into shape due to the longer football season.

Also on your list is Parry McCluer. I am pretty sure that their 7 footer (at least in round figures) is back again, and I think he improved quite a lot last year, so you are right, they should be a force to contend with.

Yes, Spencer Hamilton is back for PM. He's probably 7 foot by now. His dad is on Preps, so he might see this and let us know. I definitely look for PM to be one of, if not the favorite this year. I also really like Twin Springs as well. They have two really good players. Lancaster didn't play in the spring, but are always a force in Region A. I look for them and West Point to be the class of Region A. In Region B, Altavista lost some good players from last year's runner up team, but they do return Hunt. Lastly, you can't forget about Auburn. In Ethan Millirons, they have one of the best in the state and I hear his little brother can shoot too. Looking forward to a fun season, and I know I'll get more active once football season is over with.

I agree with most of their top 10, but maybe not the order. They definitely didn't give your Red Devils any love. Maybe because they didn't play last season. Not sure. But they didn't go unnoticed by me.

You’re right. I think not playing had a lot to do with it. We just gotta prove them wrong.

Lancaster plays West Point on the 6th. This game will tell us a lot. We also have Middlesex tonight.

Kwhs95fan…He is 6’11 3/4” Has to go back to his endocrinologist next month, went to another doctor in Lynchburg several weeks ago and couldn’t measure him, their scale only went to 6’10”. I think you are spot on in your assessment, Region A I think Lancaster and West Point, who play PM at the Rock The Ribbon Tournament in Jan if I recall correctly. Region B will in my opinion come down to Altavista, Riverheads, and Buffalo Gap. I like Twin Springs in Region D, as well as Burton (that was a tough game last year down there) And in C I think anytime you have Ethan Millirons you have a chance. And you are also correct in the fact that his younger brother can shoot. Really well. And I think Narrows will be a tough out for a lot of teams. They have a 6’5” transfer from WVA and their JV teams have won the district past couple of years.

PM played 22 games this summer against some tough teams, went to the Lynchburg University team camp two separate times and played Heritage (W) and Cave Spring (lost by 8) and played in the Valley Summer League, against Gap, Riverheads, Turner Ashby, Spottswood, Staunton, Stuarts Draft, and Fort Defiance. Really well put together league. Can’t wait for it to start. Just sad this will be Spencer’s last year 😪

I knew he had to be close. Nobody in 1A can match that. The McCulloch kid from WP is probably the closest size wise, but he plays on the perimeter a lot. Definitely looking forward to an exciting season ahead.
