This is week four already! This season is flying by. Week three was pretty interesting but somehow I have a feeling that it was only a taste of what’s to come. This is the week before the Bye for every team in the Battlefield except for 1. Probably a good thing. No doubt there is some healing to do and I know there is some wrinkles to be ironed out by just about everyone. Let’s set it up!
Caroline vs Thomas Jefferson (Ric)
Caroline continues to struggle through their tuff schedule. This week won’t be much different than the last three except for one key issue. The Cav’s are learning! Last year this contest was a close one. I don’t think Caroline will bring enough to the table to get the W but they will force TJ to play hard. Keep up the hard work Cav’s it’s coming! Chancellor vs Liberty Bealton
Last week the Chargers disappointed themselves. Eastern View is one tough opponent and the Chargers did not bring their A game. Do that against a good football team and you get beat every time! And yes folks, EV is one good football team. This week they host Liberty Bealton and if any of the rumbling I keep hearing shines through, there won’t be anything but an A game! Good thing too! Liberty may not be the team they were last year, but you open the door for them one inch and they’ll kick it open and rain on your parade. The Chargers won’t let that happen. They have received the wakeup call they deserved! Wake up calls = L’s. Chancellor with the W.
Courtland vs Fauquier
This one has me concerned. Courtland has managed exactly two TD and a FG in three games. Just WOW! Fauquier appears to be the team they were last year or fairly close to it. If that’s true, and the Cougars performance doesn’t pick up some then there is trouble brewing. I have no doubt that the Courtland coaching staff is working hard to whip the young ones into shape. I just don’t know if they can get enough done this week to make the difference. I want the Cougars to prove me wrong! Fauquier with the W.
King George @Louisa
This has to be the Battlefield Game of the Week! King George is looking good. Coach Smith has them on lock with goals in mind. Louisa may be a little down from years gone by but they are one tough customer! Plus, this game is played at Louisa. That’s a great venue everyone deserves to see. I think the Foxes will bring a little more to the table though. It won’t be a walk in the park by any means, but King George with the W.
James Monroe vs Petersburg
So what can you say about JM? Best start with they win football games. They are exactly where they were last year. I wouldn’t count them out of anything until it’s over. Petersburg will give them a good challenge but the results won’t be any different. Plain and simple, the Jackets get the W.
Spotsylvania vs Orange
Spotsy is working hard. They need to keep it up too! Orange will be a very tough opponent. Can the Knights put them away? You bet. It will take great execution and 100% belief in themselves to do so. The issue is whether or not they will? I have to believe they are still working on those issues. They’ll get there … it’s coming, just not this week. Orange with the W.
Week four is set. Don’t let another Friday night go by and not being in the stands watching one of these teams perform. Their hard work deserves your time. Good luck to the players and the coaching staffs! It is your week, go make it happen!!!!
