There are two weeks left in regular season play and in the race for the Battlefield District Championship. Wow, where did this season go? Last week was very interesting and twisted things around so there are three teams 2-1 and only one that is 3-0 in district play. That makes two games this week very important! Let’s set them up.
Caroline (0-3) vs Spotsylvania (0-3)
Both of these teams have been struggling. I know they’ve been working hard and it’s just a matter of time before they crest the top and start shaking up the district. I have faith in them both. So who gets to walk away this Friday night with the W? I have to believe that Caroline is further down the road and closer to that crest than the Knights. That being said, Spotsy can turn heads quickly if they keep their heads in the game. Remember, there are four quarters in every game. Play until the last whistle blows! This week, it will be Caroline with the W.
Chancellor (3-0) vs King George (2-1)
I didn’t expect the Foxes to take an L last week. I know how Courtland improves as the year goes on; I’ve watched them do it for years. But I believed KG was too far ahead for that to happen. I admit that I was suspect based on who they have played, but that didn’t change my predictions. That was last week though. The Chargers are coming together and getting better each week. And they are focused. I don’t believe the Foxes will have enough to upset their apple cart either. This is the Battlefield District game of the week and Chancellor will get the W.
Courtland (2-1) @ James Monroe (2-1)
Wow! The Cougars showed their mettle last week. And yes, they are getting better every week. JM is still a force to be dealt with and they had better bring their A game. JM has nothing else on their mind but TCB and winning this rivalry game. I see this game as being a slug fest from KO to final whistle. It’s not far from being the game of the week either! I am going with a gut feeling here. Courtland continues to shake up the playoff picture and they get the W.
