This week begins the run for the Battlefield District Championship, or what we call the BDC, and that elusive trophy to put in the display case! For the next five weeks these teams will leave it all out on the field. You can also trust that earning a place to proceed into the playoffs is also in every team’s sights.

Week one of Battlefield District play looks like this:

Caroline @ James Monroe

Caroline has had a tough year. They are working hard though and putting things together every day. I wouldn’t turn my head on them in anyway! Its all going to come together soon enough. JM is doing what JM always does. TCB. The Jackets are also 3-1 and very well may be 4-1 after Monday night’s game. So lets just say that JM is in the hunt! They’ll keep that hunt going this week too! JM will get the W.

Chancellor @ Courtland

Man! Its that time of year again. Its time for “THAT” game! Anyone that has watched these two teams face off over the years knows a couple things. First, records don’t matter. Second, every play is played to the fullest. Players on both side will leave it all on the field. So will the coaching staffs! Since 2010, Courtland has been the victor of this matchup. The last two were very decisive. But, this is not the Charger squad of the last couple years. In fact, as some have found out in a slightly rude way, this Charger squad has matured in a way that can be dominating all into itself. So, for the Chargers to win this one they have to slow down three, not one, three Cougar running backs. Note I did not say stop. I don’t think that’s possible. And they have to play their brand of football. Courtland will have to deal with multiple running backs and a host of receivers. Chancellor has shown just about everyone what happens when you focus on one. So, which one will prevail? I know what the math tells me. I know what everyone else thinks. But I have to tell you; I am not ready to give up on this Charger squad regardless who the opponent is. Chancellor pulls a shocker and gets the W.

King George vs. Spotsylvania

Both of these teams are 2-3. And they are both sporting a newly installed Wing-T offense. This has the makings of a very, very good game. One of those old fashioned, pad smacking, mud slinging games. Well, except it’s going to be played on the Foxes field turf. I’m kind of torn here because I also know that this game will make a statement for the winner in the Battlefield District and both of these teams have the skill to win it. I am going to have to go with the home team advantage just to make me feel good about the choice. King George gets the W.

So there you are. The week is set and yes, there is some controversy here. One thing you can count on is this will be a very good week to be in the stands for any of these three games. You won’t be disappointed.

Good luck to all the Battlefield teams and their coaching staffs!

Week one of Battlefield District play looks like this:
I like most of your picks Chancellor fan but the 2 games I have problems with Mondays game Essex and JM and Fridays Chancellor at Courtland! You make it sound like Essex has little chance against JM but even though I think JM will win its going to be a tough physical game against two physical teams. both teams have huge O lines and Essex may be the biggest I have seen this year. saw them play KG and the jackets are going to have trouble finding those smallish running backs behind that huge line like KG did! it won't be the cake walk you seem to think but I agree JM has too much offense for Essex!
Now the big one that is the CVTV game of the week we will be doing Friday Chancellor @ Courtland! yes the chargers are getting better every week but I believe they may have to score a lot of points to beat Courtland. probably at least 28 or more! the chargers defense is not going to be able to stop this years 3 headed monster Cheetum, Green and the newest third head Lawson! plus they have to contain one of the best receivers in the district Jabari Allen! there for I believe they are going to try and out score Courtland. I am not sure that as good as Jason Brown and company has enough weapons to beat Courtland. if it is a low scoring defensive struggle I think Chancellor has a better chance to pull off the upset. one thing in Chancellors favor is Bob Oliver has always been good at halting the wing T. Tim Coleman always had trouble with Oliver's defense when he was at Spotsy and for the Chargers to win they are going to have to have a monumental effort by the defense and play a almost perfect game on offense to pull off the upset but don't be shocked if Chancellor does it! another problem for the Chargers is the game is at Courtland and like JM they don't play well in the cougars den. maybe you know, when is the last time the Chargers won at Courtland? I believe it hasn't happened in a long time and their wins are few and far between in the cougars den! going to be a good one and I am glad it's the CVTV game of the week! see you there!

I went to the Chancellor/James River game the other night. I see a Courtland 42 Chancellor 14 type of game happening.

The last time Chancellor won in the Cougars Den was 2008. 25-21

Essex v JM. My original post was quite wrong. When I saw Cav's, I immediately related it Caroline. Big mistake when we're talking Essex instead. These guys always go at each other Essex has one fear of JM. They are a tough bunch and, much like JM, a big play squad. Should be a really exciting contest. Always is. But I think the JM running attack has been so good recently that they'll wear Essex down over the course of the game. Jacket's win.

KG v Spotsy. Could go either way. History says KG but Spotsy has already surprised this year. Foxes.

Cougars v Chargers. Correct that records don't matter here (even if they're both currently 4 - 1). Chargers would rather beat Courtland than win the State Championship and they're hungry. But next year is the Charger's year. This is the Cougars year. Courtland.

Hey Skynard,

Did you read my last weeks post? I don't think the JM/Essex game tonight is going to be a walk in the park. Going to be a good game if you ask me. But yes, I think JM will prevail. And I still think so.

As for Chancellor @ Courtland. Got it. Understand your position as well as the other folks. I am just not ready to give up on this Charger squad for this game. Friday, at 7PM, the contest will start and the truth will be played out over 48 minutes of hard hitting football! And yes sir, if I am wrong then I am wrong.

thanks 7 time for posting my reply! what happened I don't know! my computer is acting up so thanks again 7 time!
now chancellor fan you were right if you thought the JM Essex game was going to be a JM cake walk. just got home from the game and JM blasted Essex and really never in the game. the jackets did something that they haven't done all year pass the ball. yes they have run all year and seemed like their personality this year was running but boy they passed at will on a pretty good Essex secondary.
Felton threw the ball great tonight to his brother and leacock and some beautiful throws to Boley that he dropped. he also ran the ball well and from what it looked tonight they will give the cougars and chancellor a run for their money. JM was impressive tonight to say the least.

Caroline @ James Monroe - JM all the way.

Chancellor @ Courtland - I'll take Courtland at home. Could be close, but I won't be surprised to see a two TD difference.

King George vs. Spotsylvania - Really not sure who to pick here. Both are 2-3 and in both cases wins came against weak competition. I'll take KG because it's at KG.
