Courtland Cougars will play LOUISA County Lions in THE JUNGLE tonight at 7:30 pm. Courtland comes in with winning the last four years. They have played in THE JUNGLE before. What cat will win tonight.

Courtland hasn't scored a TD in two games. The defense is not that bad but the offense has been staying as simple as possible.....and failing. Maybe they're ready to kick it up another level. Maybe they're not. That's JCs call. He'll know when they're ready but Hall hates to lose.

I see this as 35 - 7 Lions. Cougars simply don't have the goods. Lions do.

Hope no one gets stupid and gloats over this as a major Lion victory. But Courtland is a proud program. No one should be surprised either if the Cougars give the Lions more than they expect.

FYI. There is no place the Cougars like to play more than the Jungle. Most entertaining. Best field. Least intimidating place they play all year. They love it and look forward to it. They would rather play Louisa at Louisa than at Courtland every other other year. GL to both tonight.

Cougars just to young, Defense having trouble finding where the ball is going, to many 10, 12, and 14 yard gouging plays. Cougar offense way to anemic, worst I have seen in 25 years! They just started with the ball on the Louisa 43 yard line and went nowhere. JC really has his work cut out for himself. 6-0 Louisa.

I have told hoos fan that not sure lions will play but two teams this season that are good king George and maybe Albemarle.

Sherando is also good, they should be able to beat EV next week.

King George 40 Liberty (Bealeton) 7 final. Should set up a classic for next week at Louisa.

I agree with king George. I do think Louisa is better than I thought watched them tonight. I can see 10-0. I was not impressed with their passing game. Had a lot of drops and alot of balls thrown behind receivers...BUT they did attempt to throw the ball more than I can recall. Louisa has basically taken Hanover philosophy from last season with big pounding qb but not the arm nor athlete of Cheetham. Louisa may make some noise in the east, but I cannot see them being the top team in the East.

Bell was 5-9 passing for 66 yards and a 9-yard TD to Cherry. I'm not sure what you mean by "a lot", though. I saw two easy drops and two passes a little behind. I think that stat line is pretty good for only 9 attempts. I mainly worry about the pass blocking. We did run much more than 9 pass plays but Bell got sacked or had to take off running a few times. He also threw two beautiful completions back to back where he dropped the ball into the soft areas of Courtland's zone. Last night's performance was already an improvement over the Sherando game. We'll continue to improve.

Other stats

Louisa: 520 total yards of offense, 454 yards rushing, 27 first downs
Whalen: 20 rushes for 172 yards, 3 TDs

As a comparison, Massaponax had 231 total yards against Courtland. Courtland's defense actually has played well until yesterday, but similar to what others said, their offense is the worst I've ever seen in my 13 years of watching them. KG should be a much stiffer test for the Lions. We can't let Jordan Aley run all around us and crush us with his speed and quickness in space.

I love our "Pistol I" look with Bell at QB, Jones at FB, Whalen at RB and two or three wideouts. Should be very tough to stop moving forward, especially the play-action passes.

Impressive performance by the Lions. Nice start for what appears to be a very talented team.

True on your stats..it seemed like there were more. We will see how things play out but courtland is 0-3 and they have no depth. Sherando do is 1-2. Lions should be at the worst 9-1. I am not sold on our district being good. I need to re read Ron Counts article but he was right on for how poor our district has been lately in the playoffs. Lions maybe have the magic they had 10 years ago?

There will be a 10 year reunion of that team October 28 in THE JUNGLE against an Orange County. 10 years ago we did have some Mineral magic dust. I still have a bottle.

Yeah you guys did. The program is living off of something accomplished 10 years ago which is good to a degree.

It's just that kind of year. Louisa has Bell. Whalen and a decent OLine. With the state of the teams they play this year, they are head and shoulders above the rest in the JD. But the defense will kill them come playoff time.

It's Dinwiddie folks. It's Dinwiddie.

10 - 0 this year. A great season and the high seed will get a couple of easy playoff wins. It will be a great year for the Lions.
