Coach Sherry has made several coaching changes that promise positive results. There appears to be a re-dedication to off season weightlifting and other conditioning and skills activities. Will this result in a team that can improve upon a four win season?

Let's hear about the top returning players. Where are the holes left by graduation losses that need to be filled.

As a result of a little inside information, I'm sticking my neck out and saying Charlottesville will be one of the suprise teams this fall. I'm going with a 7-3 regular season record.

3-7 last year. Of our 7 losses last year, 4 were by a TD or less; Dominion 12-6, Albemarle 22-14, Powhatan 20-15, Orange 27-20.

Lose 13 seniors including UVa Walk-On LB DeAndre Bryant and Averett DE/LB Kejuan Shivers.

Return 8 starters on defense and 9 on offense including all 5 OL and QB. Started 7 sophomores and 1 freshman on varsity last year. JV went 5-4, without those guys.

All of these things, along with solid off-season training, lead me to believe we should be a competitive football team. Time will tell. The boys are working very hard. Coaches are itching to begin coaching. TEAM is ready to prove that we belong.

We open Aug 12 Jamboree @ James Monroe w/ Riverbend.

With a team as young as Charlottesville and the number of games that Charlottesville was in last year gives me a lot of optimism that this may be a top 8 team in 4a west this year. A lot of people sleep on this program but they have some crazy good athletes at CHS. They've played GW in football once (should've beaten them) and twice in basketball (lost by like 12 combined). Closing out games is something that these young guys are learning. I see Charlottesville as a program on the rise in 4a. Guys that stick out in my mind is Brock, Leon Strauss, Davis at JMU..Many more who were really underrated. I see this team realistically being 8-2, 7-3 or better if they play to their potential.

The record says otherwise but one never knows what a season can bring. The beauty of pre-season is that everyone is undefeated. Best of luck.

But I like the direction of JM and the Bears in the jamboree. You're playing good programs. Knowing what a fight is before the season even starts is a good thing. But do use it as the opponents will....an evaluation process. Wins and loses don't mean much here. Learning who your players are is everything. Very well done.

That's a great scrimmage one man! Good luck this year. I hope you make the playoffs this year. They've made things more difficult with only having 12 teams, but 6-4 or better should put you in contention to make it.
