Some teams got off to a surprisingly good start, making you wonder if they are for real. Which team has impressed you most?

Centreville has beaten two bad teams, scoring a ton of points, but until they are tested we really will not know if they are for real. No surprise-they should have beaten those two teams. They really only have three better than average teams on the schedule, Lake Braddock, Westfield, and Robinson so the jury is still out on them.

Robinson has a lot of returning players and with multiple backs and a pounding running game should do well; I expected them to be good so no surprise there.

I considered South Lakes, but the program has been on the rise the pasts 2-3 years. The win over a solid Briar Woods was a good one, as BW also played SC very tough.

That leaves Madison, who gets my vote. Madison has recently been a team that is sort of lurking on the edge, often in the shadow of Stone Bridge when they played in the same district together. Last year they had a very good year until their strength of schedule exposed them. This year their win over Oakton, who is down a bit, was dominating and then they knocked off perennial power Stone Bridge. Maybe they make the playoff run a bit deeper this year?

Madison, 2 nice wins.

Centreville still needs to prove themselves as stated above.

Robinson VS LakeBraddock this week will tell us a lot, but I expect Robinson to be in the upper echelon most years, so not a surprise.

South Lakes was the hands down favorite to win the district, so I think they are very good, but not a surprise.

Going off the list, Mount Vernon at 3-0 for like the first time in 30 years is a surprise, no matter who they played.

Hayfield being in the top 10 of the VA Preps is also a surprise, but they play SC this week, again we will find out real quick how much the win over Tuscarora meant.

Madison beat Stone Bridge last year, and Oakton looks to be down, so I'm not sure they've done anything too surprising.

Right now I would go with Mount Vernon--their 3-0 start may be partly a function of some of their opponents being surprisingly worse than expected, but they were really bad last year.

Tuscarora is very young and lacks a difference maker as they have had in years past. As for Hayfield, they have a lot of talent but their coach will cost them against better competition. He is so married to "spread" that he nearly let Tuscarora win the game back. He passes every play regardless of circumstance. Tusky had the ball in red zone with chance to take the lead due to Hawks constantly passing in 4th quarter up 26-7 on the road. All the incompletions (stopping the clock) and three and outs left their defense on the field too long and they got tired...
