Wedge blocking is illegal in NCAA. Fed rules have no such restrictions on any play including kicks. Some try to say that wedge blocking is interlocked blocking which is illegal, but they're not the same.

That's what I was thinking, NFHS had no such rule. But, I rarely see anything that comes close to what I think of as a wedge. Maybe it's more prevelant in other areas of the state?

I've never seen it.

My guess is that to effectively work a wedge takes guys who are both big and fast. How many high schools have enough of those to form a wedge? Plus, it would require practice time that might be best spent on other tactics.
