sometimes it's not about x's and o's but about Jimmy's and Joe's, Blacksburg is just way better than Giles this year. Blacksburg will be contenders in 4A if they don't get cocky! Giles is going to have to work hard every week to get wins this year. No doubt Blacksburg is by far their hardest game this year, but got to improve each week and defense has to get better or it'll be a long season.

The Bruins were by far the best team. Size, speed and depth. Looked like they were toying with Giles early. Spartans missed a couple of opportunites early, but they were outmaned. Beidleman needs a breakaway runner to complement him in the backfield. Defense won't likely play any A teams with the size of the Bruins.
Giles will be just fine this year in 2A. Got to keep Beidleman healthy and the young secondary some experience. Blacksburg just had too much speed for them, same as I saw when Blacksburg played Glenvar in the benefit game. BTW, Kip Green is going to dominate once he develops some.
Giles fan here and congrats to bburg...you have a hell of a team...very very good QB and he has tons of weapons that can all fly...folks beck isn't the only speed burner they have
My Spartans will be fine...just very young at certain spots on defense and it showed last night against an offensive machine.

Blacksburg is a very good football team. If they stay healthy and don't get too cocky they can compete for the 4A title.
Giles has some work to do. The defensive line play was not up to par. No pressure on the QB and they waited on the ball carriers instead of attacking. Kip Green could be a beast, he needs to work on stamina and aggressiveness for sure. Several plays he got pushed around by a smaller Blacksburg lineman.
I worry about Beidleman lasting a whole season with that workload. Someone else needs to step up and get some quality yardage on carries. He did everything he could do.
