Didn't realize until this past week that former Christiansburg Head Coach Tim Cromer in now an assistant at Christiansburg coaching Running Backs. If my memory serves me correct, coach Cromer went into the AD role after resigning his HC position and is now an assistant (and AD). I can't think of any other time where someone has been a Head Coach at a school, and then years later returned to be an assistant at that same school.

He's a competitor, he just wants to win, no matter what role he takes.
@mike salem did you see any promise for the Christiansburg program this year? I saw they competed well with Salem.
Coach David Crist is an assistant coach with the middle school program in Blacksburg. Football is an addiction. But more so , with these two gentlemen is their love for the young men they coach.
If they keep going in the same direction they have the potential to rebuild what Tim Cromer had from 2004-2014. Their JV beat us 29-28 a couple of weeks ago.
Kuddos to MCPS for letting these gentlemen continue to work with young people. Coach Crist is a no brainer since he is retired, but some places wouldn't let an AD be a coach, even as an assistant. It shows their trust in Coach Cromer. Considering all he has done for CHS in a variety of roles whenever called upon, that trust is well earned.
Not Mike but they have had solid middle school teams the last couple of years and have a very nice JV team this year. They should take another leap forward next year.
Coach Goforth from Stuarts Draft did the same thing. Took on AD job, then later stepped down and became defensive coordinator for SD.
