Did Jefferson ST go indie? I can't find them on the VHSL Master, but their website shows them playing smaller public and private schools.

They are listed in the Master Schedule. See Region 5C, third team listed. They are also shown in District 5.

They are a VHSL member, but ineligible for playoff consideration in football.

Thanks. I guess it's harder for academic specialty schools to field a team that can remain competitive with schools of their same enrollment size. That explains why Maggie Walker doesn't play football.

For sure. But darn, MW sure makes up for it in other sports.

And asking a school like TJ-A to compete in 5a in football is asking a lot. Besides, I'm not sure the ego's of the kids on one of the big time 5a schools could handle it if a nerdy little brainy kid from TJ got in a pancake block!

I'd just let students from TJ and MW be eligible to play football for the HS they would otherwise attend.
