Team A has possession of the ball in play. Team B attempts to call TO. Can official choose to ignore? If the official does blow the whistle, can it be called an "inadvertent whistle"?

The official should ignore it. But sometimes, in the heat of the game, you can make a mistake and grant the TO.

In HS, the TO is granted.

In college, the TO is not granted and play is resumed.

As long as he has a timeout available, there is no penalty. It's just a timeout.

So let me get this straight ... if the other team has the ball and you can get an official to grant a TO and you have one ... there is no penalty?

Wow ... seems to me that allows the team without the ball to deceive and get away with it
