It is really quiet on the board's and just wanted to strike up some conversations. Who returns the most talent and what teams could surprise some people? I do not like to rank from top to bottom but if anyone has enough insight and knowledge, I'd like to see it....... Is Gretna going to be back to its winning tradition? How about Giles, Glenvar, Richland's and Buckingham in the West? Are they the top teams in the West? What about Nottoway and Wilson Memorial in the East? Do they reload? How about Amelia, Brunswick, Goochland, King William, Clarke, East Rockingham, and R.E. Lee? I think the East is pretty wide open...... Again, I am just trying to stir up some conversation..... If I did not mention your team, please bring your team into the conversation. No disrespect is intended.....

I know King William graduated some skills including their QB, but I know they have a rising 10th grader everyone is excited to see take over at QB. How about Goochland? Doesn't their QB return? He is a really good player, but I know Jefferson will, of course, be missed. I am sure they will reload.

Richlands is going to be very good this year...lots of returning starters and a pretty good recruiting class coming in this year...LOL. Seriously though, they will be the team to beat from SWVA.

Goochland's QB Reid Chenault will be a senior this year. He has been playing since his freshman year. Looking forward to seeing him lead this team this year! Losing Jordan Jefferson is a big loss but we played some young talent last year and I hope it pay's off this year!

King William seems to reload every year! Good luck to your Cavalier's this year! It is nice to have a sophomore that is special and you know is going to be a difference maker!

Richland's turned some heads last year for sure! If they have a lot coming back, they will be one of the "Top Dogs" in the West for sure....Good luck to your Blue Tornadoes as well! LOVED the recruitment remark! Lol....

The new qb from KW that you were referring to is Ryan Huffman and he will be a sophomore. Very talented kid with a good arm. If the last name sounds familiar its because he is the younger brother of KW softball star Kayla Huffman. KW has a pretty tough non district schedule this year with the usual matchups with Essex and W&L and they will also play 5A James Madison and Bruton. They lost some talent last year but have a lot of talent coming back as well and I think they should be in the thick of things come the postseason

I thought they were playing Madison County. I don't think there is a high school called James Madison in Virginia. There is a James Robinson, and they would never play King William.

Yes they are playing James Madison High from Northern Virginia not Madison County.

What about Gate City in the west? The East does not have too many teams that start with a "G"....
HR6 pointed the statistics with past championships last year and is sticking with the trend.... Fun statistic if your team happens to start with a "G".....

2014 Glenvar
2013 Giles
2012 Goochland
2011 Gretna
2010 Gate City
2009 Essex(last non G team to win/ now 1A)
2008 Gretna
2007 Gretna
2006 Goochland
2005 Giles
2004 Manassas Park( now 3A)
2003 Gate City
2002 George Wythe (now 1A)
2001 Washington&Lee ( last current 2A non G team to win state)

I would like to see Graham get back to where they once were. I always enjoyed traveling to Bluefield to scout the G Men. One of my favorite venues to see a game.

I think Graham will pleasantly surprise some folks this season. Not sure if they will be a contender or even a solid playoff team, but they have plenty of talent, a new head coach that the kids are rallying around and a lot of renewed support from the community.... a recipe for success.

I stand corrected on my comment from a few weeks ago. I was told KW was playing James Madison from Vienna but according to Max Preps and the VHSL master schedule they are playing Madison County. Just wanted to apologize for my mistake

Dang, you GMEN keep up better with Richlands than a Richlands fan, I know of three this year but who are all these others your talking about Russell, Buch, Mercer, Bland????
Keep thinking about those three, it's the other 50 plus players that will take you to the wood shed.

As they sit on the bench....

Just Kidding.

We know Richlands will have a solid team, but they have benefited from transfers, no doubt.
I'm not sure how much they will benefit however, since 3 of the 4 play the same position.

I would say from the west..Glenvar, Richlands, Giles....in that order....The Glenvar game against Cave Spring will be very telling just how good they are..or are not...

KW comes to Madison County on 08-28-2015. Expect a good crowd as this is the season opener for MC...lots of new faces for MC both on and off the field.
