If Phoebus wins, either Salem or Sherando goes there, if Hampton wins, they go to Salemmor Sherando.

No matter who wins Champe/Tuscarora they will go to Dinwiddie/Varina winner.

It’s about the same for all opponents. All have very good highway systems around them. Salem and Sherando has 81 to 64 and Tusky and Champe will hop on 29 or 15 to 17 to 95. Straight shots. Lynchburg is a reasonable location for the winners.

Idk about you but i much rather meet in Williamsburg for state title if the title game is A vs B

It's actually 11:30 & 5 this year. Last year they allowed you to leave and re-enter. We visited my parents between games. The house is up Candler's Mtn 5 min away.
Good to know they let you re-enter! Praying for a Salem/Varina game this year. We were robbed of one in 2021, hope we get it this year. I know C4 will get the 5pm slot this year.

I like it the way it is. Always been a huge fan of the games at Liberty. Wish all 6 was played there.
In my visit to Liberty last year after the long drive from Williamsburg I was extremely disappointed at the next to none food vendors that were available inside the stadium. Only one on the home side with rather lousy food. I didn’t know until after I entered the stadium. The food concession on Fridays at our Wanner Stsdium were 100x better. It holds 3,000+. You need bigger? Great parking,

Agreed with the lack of food vendors. Two years ago, I think (and I may be wrong), they had a one food line on each side and the lines were tremendously long. This is something that needs to be improved at Liberty.

Had a similar situation in 2016 with Blacksburg vs Staunton River. Both teams had to travel to W&M
I remember that. Also crazy. If the VHSL wants to raise attendance they may need to have games closer to the finalists home towns.

I agree with you on the attendance piece but I feel like if you love your team/high school football, you’ll go anywhere regardless.

What’s a huge dealbreaker for me are these horrid start times for football and these sessions for the basketball state championships. Who the hell is coming to a game at 11:30 (11 to get a good seat) and staying for another game at 5 o’clock? I get you can leave and come back but that’s just an inconvenience to the fans and a huge drawback for attendance. The sessions for basketball are down right robbery and ridiculous. No other state does this dumb sh!t but the VHSL. I was in Hampton last March to watch Moncan’s girls and Varina’s boys. After Monacan played Hampton, we emptied the gym just to go stand in a long ass line (over 900 people waiting outside) to watch Varina play Hampton’s boys. They don’t care about the kids or you, they just want your $.

I’ll tell you this a lot of Phoebus family and fans simply can’t afford to make the day trip to Lynchburg.

Facts. Everybody not as fortunate to make that trip though bro. Salem is blessed to be socioeconomically higher up the ladder than some.
There are more affluent parts, but plenty of the travelers that went to WM came from lower income parts like east bottom, north Salem, etc. Not making a claim on who is the less fortunate community, that’s a match I’m not willing to get into, just trying to show appreciation to the less fortunate in Salem that will make the trip.

Happy thanksgiving all.

People will beg for what they need and buy what they want. I just spent 11$ on 6 16 oz bud heavy’s. That is close to the amount of Gas i would need to make it 60 miles.

According to the 2022 US Census Data (Google) the median income in Hampton, VA IS $36,000 +. The median income in Salem, VA is $33,000 +. I understand financial hardships and if that's the case wouldn't it be logical for other Phoebus parents/school to assist? Most schools probably have a few families with this issue. Hopefully, somebody will reach out and help them.

I think games should be scheduled four hours apart for State Championship Friday and Saturday (in my perfect World). Have one central site for all six games (while we have six classifications). 12, 4, 8 start times or 11, 3, 7. Same times for both days. One ticket per day. $20 per day. All you can eat football. Come and go as you please.

I know that schools up my way used to charter fan buses to even regional games. You can make deals with charter companies (maybe you can offer them "trade" in terms of a sponsorship). They can be a presenting sponsor (stadium signage, announcer reads, program ad (who does programs anymore though). They can pay for the ad space and on top of that, provide X amount of fan charter busses to road games/playoff games if applicable.

Flat rate of $30 per person that includes round trip transportation and ticket and meal on the way home. Make a deal ahead of time with a restaurant at the destination site. See how many of the same bagged lunches you can get for say 50 people (just throwing out a number). Get that deal and then the fans can have meals sitting in their seats on the bus ready for them for the ride home.

Many ways to skin a cat. You just need some marketing prowess to be creative.

That’s the way they used to do it in NC. I love it!
