Is that Giles I see at #8? i hope both of us win our 1st rounds. Ive been wanting this matchup at Appo since 2013. WARNING: Leave Train Horn at home, just FYI. But... lets focus on this week.

Congrats to all the teams that made it to the playoffs

So a 3-7 team "gets" to travel halfway across the state to play the #1 seed? Nothing against that school but something has to give in this playoff format. There are several teams with losing records in the playoffs. Maybe the first criteria should be at least a .500 record?

And no, you do not have to allow 16 teams or 12 teams or whatever. Making the playoffs used to mean something. Now a 3-7 team makes it? I know this gets brought up every year but this is aggravating.

Appomattox is also know as The Depot. The have a Railroad Day Festival every October. Bring the train horn on.

I am with you on this. It should be 8 teams to qualify per region this year and 4 per region next year.

And like Appo said in another thread the administration will hunt the horn out when it's sounded and be told to take it out or etc so there's no way to hide it inside a fenced in stadium
 
Then Appomattox will not be allowed to use thier horn in which they stole from Giles either,right? I can't believe playoffs are starting and all u guys want to talk about is a horn. Giles has to play a good Marion team first, might not even make to Appomattox.

I've watched appomattox a couple different times this year and I feel like the only way they are losing to anyone in 2A this year is if they beat themselves. No one can match up with their speed. I thought the Amherst game would be a tight game for them but they ran all over the place. i think they are as good if not better than last years team and I'm not even a fan. I don't know what Richlands has this year but that was the only team who gave them a test last year and I wonder if it would be the same again? I would like to see that. I'm not saying that there gonna win it all because anything can happen and that's why we play the game but man somebody is gonna have to play perfect and appo play awful

Graham could match their speed.

How much is losing Tre Walker going to hurt Appomattox.

Well, you may want to take a look at Graham. Graham has MORE speed than Appomattox. I am not saying Graham will win the game if the two meet, but I am saying and telling you now, Graham has MORE speed than Appo. As for Richlands last year, they more than gave Appo a "test." They had the game nearly out of reach, but had no running game to be able to kill the clock. Richlands led in the fourth quarter against Appo. As a matter of fact, I will make a prediction and go a slight different direction from my prediction about Graham and Appo meeting. In my opinion, Graham will win the state championship. This is only my opinion. I hope the Spartans win the whole thing so I can add another state title pennant to my 45 year old bandanna.

DR is snake bitten when it comes to advancing deep into playoffs. DR is too conservative on offense, though their pass game has improved from years past. DR has as good of defense as anyone I have seen. If DR can open up offense they can be playing in Salem in December.
 
All you need to know about Appo's speed is that they handily beat a great Amherst team and Amherst beat Salem. I know those 2nd generation comparisons don't necessarily translate to who is better than who but that has my attention.

How big is the loss of the RB? I heard he was the starter but then I heard he was only averaging 40-50 ypg?

I don't know much about Appomattox. You guys may run 2 or 3 RB sets for all I know and that might be why his stats were low.

Yeah I'm with you..appo beat a 1 seed in 3A who might win the state and then beat a top 5 seed in 4A that has a chance to win the state. You gotta recognize that for something. I'm not even a appo fan but I know when I see a great team

Tre Walker will hurt us. He has been back there 2 years with phillip in probably one of the best 1-2 punches in the state. Fortunately, we are loaded at RB. The problem will be the chemistry of team. Trey and philllip both have a heart that cant be matched. I know who the replacement will be, but i dont want to release that info on here.

Graham is the fastest team I have seen in a while. Big question for them will be if they can handle the preasute

Just FYI, we dont blow our horn like yall do. we blow it on scores only, we blow a canon too. Yall blow it in a unsportsmanlike way.
MARK IT DOWN GUYS, YALL WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BLOW YA HORN AT BRAGG STADIUM!
I know our administration personally, our Principal is probably the Raiders #1 fan. I know he isnt going to allow it to be blown, it will surprise me if he does.

50 yards a game because he shares snaps with Phillip Fleshman. the both average 100+ a game until reserves come in. The issue is neither play D and now the person they have to replace him is full time D. We are deep at RB. We have 4 RBs that could be a #1 back.

I figured as much. I hate it for him to have to miss his last games. I'm sure he hates it as well.

yeah, he hates it. I know this kid very well and he has the heart that he probably texting coach smith right now saying "Come on coach, I CAN GO!" (with cast on leg). Sucks cause he is a senior. He played a big part in our state championship and the 10-0 season this year. he is a good kid with great attitude. he was a state champ in track too.
He was the kid that ran the sweep play that beat Richlands in OT.

If Giles can't bring their horn it will be a first and it will make Appo look petty. Principals want to be fair and sportsmanlike above al lelse so I doubt he will tell them to put it away. He may ask them keep it to a minimum but that will be it.

Yuuup! Took them 47 minutes to wake up and play with urgency against Appo. DR is still the real deal. Beat Magna Vista and only lost to Appo by 2.
