Trying to catch a game this week, any good games to get a taste of what a team will look like this year. I’m closer to the neck, so anyone in the neck playing?
Yeah I know WP plays W&L @home which I’ll probably end up watching, any predictions on that game? The only two Northern Neck teams playing at home next week are Northumberland (vs Northampton) and Rappahannock (vs Southampton) A little further out, King William plays at home against Bruton.
This game should be an early litmus test for both teams. Personnel wise, WP is a lot better off now than before pre-season.Yeah I know WP plays W&L @home which I’ll probably end up watching, any predictions on that game?
Dude give it a rest. Everything he said was positive.Wow...you seem to know a lot about the players and what they are thinking.Cool....anywho...wishing EVERYONE an injury free fun week of practice!!Cant wait until next Friday.
I have never seen someone so obsessed with a team they chose not to be a part of.
I love to read this board for opinions and information. Sometimes we all know we have to take some posts with a grain of salt due to "homer" opinions. Apparently we also have to take some with a grain of salt for "hater" opinions.
West Point went from having nobody returning to ones coming back that had not played in years. It seems like only one player did not return. I'm surprised we are not getting updates on how well he is doing rather than information on the success or failure of where he left.
I'm sure the W&L - West Point game will be a good one. It will be interesting to see how W&L bounces back from playing the best team in the state.
I just hope the weather allows everyone to play.
@offmylawn, W&L should bounce back fine. With the athletes on that team I look for them to make some noise before it’s all said and done. The QB has a gifted arm but didn’t hit a few routine plays I would have expected him to. The backupQB/RB has speed and is elusive along with a couple of his backfield mates. The line play was mediocre against a fairly young Gladiator D so that will need to be shored up but they do have a good bit of ceiling to where they could be. On a side note I hope #9 from W&L is ok after suffering what appeared to be an ankle or knee issue.
Not sure what West Point has now since I can’t figure out who is supporting and who is mean mouthing them. Anyone with an unbiased opinion please let us out west know what the deal is.
Anyone think we going to get any games in Friday or is Saturday, Monday more likely? Rain is coming!! Have an awesome evening!!
Can anyone respond to this question? Or only certain people? Hypothetical question of course.
Facts bearing on the problem:
1. NOAA is currently predicting 1-2" of rain for WP area between Thursday 8 am to Thursday 8 pm.
2. The NHS @ WP scrimmage was cancelled a day prior for less than 1" of rain.
3. Hampden-Sydney has a game on Saturday.
4. WP administration has never made up a football game on a Sunday.
5. W&L could offer to host the game if WP's field is too wet. Both teams would have to agree.
6. Rescheduling for Monday only gives WP 3 days to prep for RHS, arguably their toughest opponent on their schedule besides KW.
I'm going to concur with your "Monday more likely" but hope the game is played on Friday.
Games in the Richmond area seem to be going as scheduled or a few moved to Saturday. Great to see MGF back on the thread posts again. How's your son making out at that private school? Do you bash the coaching staff from there like you do this staff from WP? Is the grass much greener there than it is in WP? I truly feel sorry for your family, if I was your son, I would be totally embarrassed and absolutely not wanting a relationship with you cause you stir trouble regularly, and I wouldn't want that weight on my shoulders as a child. I have stated before MGF, I have no dog in this fight but I enjoy reading certain threads on this forum, but it seems you have a obvious problem with this program even if your son is playing somewhere else, and I truly don't appreciate seeing someone with no credentials bash and try to destroy a program, whether you like them or not
Never stated that it was about you or anyone else having a bias. The range of opinions is just much broader than on most teams and that’s what I was referring to. Without a larger sample size of games, I personally can’t make heads or tails of where they will likely finish because of it. Nothing more, nothing less was meant by post.Don't confuse my bias against the coaching staff with bias against the team. I will always root for the players because I actually coached many of them in youth ball and in high school. When you are that close to the players, then obviously you only want the best for them. My calling out issues with the coaching staff is no different than anyone else doing the same on this website over the past several years. As I've already stated, WP is in a lot better shape after getting players back that were not going to play, getting players back that had previously quit and getting new players to come out that have never played. For the sake of the players, I hope they make the playoffs.
Stay on topic. Don't go all middle school on us and name call and make it personal. My son is the athlete he is because I have personally trained him since he was 6. Anyone who knows me or him will attest to that fact. Coaches he played for received a trained player who was ready to play, the exception being Jimmy Rice who taught him how to run downhill and some great linebacker reads and techniques. The CCS program and coaches are awesome because they actually have coaches that are committed and do what coaches do to have a great program. You should go on their website and see the number of kids they put into colleges each year.Games in the Richmond area seem to be going as scheduled or a few moved to Saturday. And it's hypocritical to call out a middle school comment at the same time you are questioning someone's devotion to a program that you pulled your player from, because your feelings got hurt. Your original comment was very positive and informative, and it kind of mocked a previous comment of yours. The one that said, i quote loosely, "my son and six others will not play for this HC. "
Like I said, you really should either go back and read all the threads, or bow out. Because you are bringing up things that have already been discussed. But I will address your questions:It's hard for me to keep up on which thread to comment. Each time I view one there seems to be another where you have some form of dislike for the HC. I will stop when you stop. Why are meetings between. minors and the principal any of your business anyway? You reference me having a clouded judgement due to my feelings. Is your judgement clouded at all? You have pulled your son out of the program, for which I hope was his decision, and you take each chance to trash talk the school or the HC. You shouldn't have any interest on when someone wants to reschedule a game. It doesn't affect your schedule. If the coach wants to see his son play ball then let him. It really is no business of yours. Don't try and push an issue and question the man's loyalty to the team. Obviously you can't discern between objective or subjective and pretty. Most of your comments have been petty.
This game should be an early litmus test for both teams. Personnel wise, WP is a lot better off now than before pre-season.
They picked up their senior left OG/DT Elijah Billups, who originally said he was sitting out to protect against injury for his senior year of track (all state in shot and discus and will probably go D1 in Track if not injured). He’s like adding two extra lineman. He’s playing catch up on practices and did not see field time in the Rappahannock Co. game. This is his two twin brothers first year on varsity and his only opportunity to play football with them. He’s playing catch up on his conditioning.
Whit Whitaker, last year’s 2nd Team All Region DB returned the last week of pre-season after changing his mind about not playing this year. He will be S and one of the wingbacks for WP. He had a few good runs against Rapp Co.
They picked up a big junior who never played football before, soccer player Mitchell Buckner, who is a quick learner and aggressive and will add depth to WO’s O and D line.
They also picked up another big kid they called Treetop when he played on WP JV team. Thomas Rhody didn’t play on varsity before, but he’s a big addition, literally. He was not eligible to play vs Rapp Co either because he joined so late.
WP also got their senior kicker/punter back from a foot injury. He was 100% on PATs in the Rapp Co. game. He also can play DB, so he adds depth there.
WP still has 3 key players out. Senior QB Thomas O’Connor is still out for a foot injury but is expected to be cleared soon, if not already. He needs to make up the mandatory practices before returning but is billed to be the starting QB for WP. He’s a dual threat and has plenty of big receivers this season in both TE and WBs.
Starting WB Wyatt Bingham was injured in WP’s only scrimmage and did not play in the Rapp Co game.
Junior TE/LB is still out with an upper extremity injury from last season.
Whether it was their teammates or the WP coach who convinced these late season additions to play, these additions should help WP make it to the first round of the playoffs, which I said would not be the case without these players.
Prayers for an injury free season for the players, especially to a Elijah Billups who should get a D1 track scholarship and to WB/DE Zach Gonzalez who just committed to play baseball at CNU next year. And prayers for a speedy recovery to O’Connor, Bingham and Lawson so we can see you play.
He came out to play. He's arguably their best offensive lineman and their best interior d lineman. His choices were not to play and have a pretty much guaranteed D1 offer for discus and shot, or to play with his twin brothers his senior year and risk injury that could set his college goals back. That's a tough decision for any player to make. #33 had to make the same decision and he verbally committed to CNU two weeks ago to play baseball. He could also play D1 but chose CNU. I pray before every game for both teams to be injury free, but pray a special prayer for the the four seniors going on to play at the next level in football, baseball and track.Sounds like the Billups kid isn't all that invested in football

I didn't say he had any D1 offers. I said "he could also play D1", I.e., IMO he's good enough to play for a D1 somewhere. He didn't wait for anyone else because he wanted to play for CNU.What offers did #33 have from D1 baseball programs that can be confirmed??
I hope he does well at CNU very good baseball program only down side is they like to bring in a lot of transfers son played against them one year they had 6 or 7 transfers startingI didn't say he had any D1 offers.
