surprised Giles is so low. Appo will not be sleeping on D.R. either. i got them coming strong this year. i hear the QB has VT looking his way. That RB they got is short,fast, and elusive.

Giles is going to be a bit down from what my buddies up that way say. Not that they will be bad, just not to the level of the past couple seasons. Hard to replace someone like Mann.
No Gate City? Don't they usually start off against those TN schools and then come on strong in the district and post season?
What does Clarke return for offense this year? I know they spend a lot of time in the weight room but any speed coming from the JV squad or via transfer? Without an infusion of speed, I think CC may be disappointed yet again in the post season.

Im telling yall! NO....I MEAN NO Single Wing/ Wing T team will beat Raiders this year and that goes for Giles, CC, Amherst, etc!!! We have the talent to stop it, but most of all, we have a BAD MAN (dude was on sidelines of Syracuse) as a defensive coach that knows how to stop it. Union should fire that D coach from last year. What a pitiful display vs CC to stop the Single wing in playoffs. I kept thinking it was the JV team on field.
Other coaches need to watch the Raiders D last year vs. the Single Wing/ Wing T if they wanna learn something.

Gate City's schedule is murders row. Something like 8 teams they played last year made the playoffs. The only problem with a schedule like that is when they have a down year, it leads to a 1-9 season like they had last year. They have a 4th year starter at QB and the McClung kid is an athlete if he plays again (he has D1 offers in basketball). They won't be 1-9 again, but unless something clicks under the new coach, I don't see them above 6-4.
I wouldn't say CC was disappointed in the post season. They made it to the big game, something they've never done before.
I did notice last season they had a kid on JV that was small and fast as lightning carrying the ball.
Nothing personal but if they are not disappointed, they are not the program I think they are. Just getting to the big game is not the desire. But I think I get what you mean.

Their all state RB/DB. They will be a 7-3 type team this year. That is a down year for them.

But I will not dispute the Appo defense was something special last year.

If they beat us its because our Offense is a NO SHOW that night. D is gonna swarm that Single Wing/Wing T. Amherst has the most variations I have ever seen using it though. They keep ya thinking. glad its the last game of season.
Stuarts Draft should be the best team in our area. I think they will surprise some people come playoff time. That is if they play to their potential.
The Wing is designed to pound the ball, misdirect and wear you down. With the amount of players Appo has and the amount that will be going both ways, this will likely happen against a team like Amherst, who simply has more fresh bodies available. Just a numbers game here.
Without that special QB, Appo simply goes back to normal this year. But hell of a season last year. Congrats.
If you recall, I expressed concern about that last year. It was evident the kids were not prepared. Always been a thorn since Union's creation. There's been a change in that spot for the fall. We'll see.
Yea, I have to limit my football talk to football season or I'd NEVER get anything done.
I will be glad when Gretna returns to the Top 10. Actually be glad when we get back to Salem Stadium..
DR's QB? Wow! That's wazzzzzup! I've never known DR to have an even decent QB lol.. They'll definitely be a top 5 2a by mid season. Wouldn't be surprised to see them and Appo play twice this year! Definitely the 2 best teams in the Dogwood.
Saw Gretna play in the 7on7 at Averett. They looked real good. Still maybe a year or two away from being a top 2a team but they'll be there sooner than later.
If DR has a QB and the Wildcats develop a good passing game, everyone else might be playing for 2nd place.
Never said he was a natural QB, I mean he is an athletic kid. Im not saying he is a great passer, only time will tell that.
You'll learn not no pay any attention to HR6. He's been here even longer than me. But he does have his moments.

Lets face it though, not taking away from the kid, but Tech has 3 of the Edmunds up there (well one left). Of course the head coach is going to promote somebody from his team to get a full ride. He got all his sons up there. I think the kid is a decent player, but a D1 athlete? Hmmm....Hope he has a great season.
DR has had a lot of talent come thru in recent seasons. Hard to believe they have never won a state championship.
