Varina football

I think that Varina has more "horse" to handle than Henrico does. I think this will be close, but a Varina win.
I predict a 34-28 Varina win.

I said in my prediction for the weekend Varina 28-24... Varina hasn't been tested this season as you eluded to. Henrico has weapons, as does Varina. I feel like the depth of Varina however will help them over the course of four quarters.

I don't think that I could bring myself to put $ on Henrico, but as I said last week if Coach Glasco can keep them focused on the task at hand they can get the job done. I haven't seen a lot of Varina, but Jalon Jones and Eric McDaniels are much better than anyone the Blue Devils have faced thus far. If they come out like last week and not like they did against HS and play with a chip on their shoulder, Henrico knocks off Varina.

Henrico wins 28-27. Kickers a necessary evil. Ouch! Other than a few ill advised passes J. Jones controlled the game from start to finish. Nice win for Henrico. Coach Stu better get his troops back on track before HSHS comes calling. Could get ugly in a hurry.

Highland Springs is going to spank Varina's tail if they dont start playing with discipline and a sense of urgency. Lackadaisical effort to say the least.

Both teams tonight are as equal as the score indicates. HS already spanked Henrico 40-6 and Big V will get the same treatment! But first for us ....is Atlee this Friday. Are you ready Raiders? The Big Bad Wolf is coming to your house!

Varina lost there starting quarterback for disciplinary reasons last week, gone for the season.had the highest quarterback rating in the region.would have made a big difference in the Henrico game.Give the new QB for Varina time to adjust to his receivers , Varina will be ok !! Varina has a running game second to none

"Varina has a running game second to none." LOL! 2nd to none is coming to your house Nov. 2nd! You will see why HSHS is the #1 team in Va. A run game that nobody can stop, top passing attack in the State and the Top defense too. Averaging 50+ points per game and hungry to win 4 straight titles! I'll look ahead just for fun.... HS wins over Varina, 48-7

I was going to say...

That backfield at Varina is not deeper/more talented than the stable over at HSHS, IMO

Also read in Times Dispatch that Manchester QB has best passer rating in the area...

Varina won't be able to run like they did against Henrico

I would not go that far 48- 7

I would be careful calling out the Springers! It's fun to talk a little smack and back your team, but I wouldn't want to give them any extra motivation.

I wasn't able to make the game, but from what I understand Henrico was the semi self-destructive version of itself. Some times more focused on talking than playing and picking up dumb penalties. I heard that it was a closer game than it should have been if Henrico didn't shoot themselves in the foot multiple times. If you are hoping for HSHS to do the same, I wouldn't count on it, but rivalry games can get a little chippy. Things might have been different with the starting QB, but if he is gone for the season I guess we are done talking about his impact. Hopefully Varina can rebound and make things interesting in the region.

All points count what im looking at is that Highland Springs offense only scored 27 points against Henrico.
...and by the way, it was 33-0 in the 3rd quarter when our coaches pulled our starters! They were all on the bench halfway through the 3rd and the entire 4th and still won 40-6.

Keep in mind that the defense and special teams scoring takes away possessions from the offense.

Henrico and Varina are good squads so I wouldn't expect the Springers to hang 70 on them. But if you turn the ball over against them, watch out.

I agree I think Highland springs will SPANK all the teams in D-5

Not saying Varina is not a talented team. Its tough to lose your starting qb and be spot on. My one concern is they finally played an opponent with more than 1 win (at the time Hanover now has 2) and lost.

I saw the game live and stick by my statements. They did not play with any sense of urgency, showed very little hustle and seemed to lack discipline. If they do the same against the Speingers it will not be a close game. Sorry if you dont agree. Varina should still get one of the top 4 seeds in the region.

I saw the game live as well, I think based on what I saw the Springers will win by 2 to 3 touchdowns.

As far as a top four seed... Could be dicey... That out-of-district slate of Meadowbrook, Matoaca and Hermitage could hurt them.

Great point. I was trying to be nice. You know, give a little incentive after being a bit blunt. I was taught to sandwich a negative with two positives. lol

He isn't passing a lot though. Average looks good non-the-less. Certainly hurts to have lost him. He is gone for the year for sure? kicked off team or just a few games?

Supposedly caught burning the trees and gone for the season. IDK if that's true or just the gossip in the stands at the Varina/Henrico game.

So, what exactly does that mean? Does it mean he's better than Brendon Clark? I don't think so! Better than Jalon Jones and D'Vonte Waller? Don't think so! Just where does it rate him with the others on the field with THEIR RESPECTIVE TEAMS?

Springer I am telling you our boy Stone Snyder can throw that ball. I am not saying he is better than the 3 you mentioned, but he is in the convo. I think Brendon and Jalon are the best college prospects but if we are talking just straight HS productivity Snyder is solid. Waller is as well! We have talked about it before, but there is a lot of good QB play in the 804 this year. How about Peety Pope over at Dinwiddie!

Oh yeah, he is a good one. Is he a soph. too? I'm not knocking the kid at Varina, he's a sophomore! He's good now and he's going to get better too!
You guys wait til next year! HSHS has at least 2 more real good youngster quarter backs too. Our Soph. back to Waller, last name Mercer. Left handed, accurate passer and fast and elusive on his feet a sophomore. Our JV qb. Is going to be incredible! (JV team is loaded too).

Is one of them going to transfer or are you going to potentially have a 2 QB system? I guess remains to be seen.
