They really woke me up I really thought Patrick Henry was going to win that game.. I picked Varina to win this game because of there defense. They couldn't run on Varina last year and they basically have the same backfield with number eight, different quarterback I think the quarterback from last year is better than the young man this year. No question in my mind this will be the best defense that King George will face this year. If Varina can handle the deep pass I see no problem of them winning this game. + Eastern view gave them some big problems. Varina or King George both of these teams will give Hanover or Dinwiddy a run for the money.I hope King George woke up a few people tonight. These guys are for real. Varina better not sleep on them.
Talk about old Battlefield District matchup, Varina and Louisa were Battlefield rivals for years back in my day.Would love to see an old Battlefield District matchup for the state title with King George vs. Louisa!
I like my home team in this matchup , Varina held arguably the best team in the state to just 29 points while forcing 3 , 3 and outs in the first half. king George does have a good passing game with those big receivers but if Varina can control the line of scrimmage th
I really don't think King George can run the ball against Varina. I've watched about six games that King George has played and they rely on the deep ball passing game. King George isn't that used to playing four quarters put the pressure on and they seem to fade a little in the third and fourth quarter. If varina goes out and play physical I said physical football they should come out on top. So I do agree if if varina offense and defensive line plays their game varina should be okay. The corners for Varina stay on top of your game you will be tested..I like my home team in this matchup , Varina held arguably the best team in the state to just 29 points while forcing 3 , 3 and outs in the first half. king George does have a good passing game with those big receivers but if Varina can control the line of scrimmage this game wont be close
Never never underestimated a team, the Philadelphia eagles can vouch for that. the varina that I know they will come to play. It’s been 3 yrs since I’ve seen king george play but I’d say ppl underestimate that team and I believe that show what a good team they really are friday.
207 yards rushing for KG tonight... Varina 128I really don't think King George can run the ball against Varina. I wouldn't have expected that either.Hey what can I say I was wrong on that one congratulations to King George
It may have been over 200 yards of penalties combined for both teams my personal opinion and my opinion only I don't think either of these teams are ready to play championship ball with dinwiddie. Very sloppy ball game between Varina and King George Friday night penalty after penalty.I wouldn't have expected that either.

I expected KG to win that game. Nobody wanted to believe me when I said Varina wouldn’t make it past them.I wouldn't have expected that either.
Worst officiated game I’ve seen since SB v HS last yearNot if that officiating crew shows up...
KG 14-131
Varina 14-140
Varina had 14 penalties against us last year and won the whole thing...
I'm not surprised KG won. I didn't expect them to run for over 200 though.I expected KG to win that game. Nobody wanted to believe me when I said Varina wouldn’t make it past them.
I didn’t expect that at all. Both teams had success running surprisingly. Varina really killed themselves with penalties everytime they moved the ball. Then to come out of a timeout with 12 men on the field on a 4th down field goal attempt going into half changed momentum because KG scored a TD after that. Instead of 10-0 you go into half 14-0I'm not surprised KG won. I didn't expect them to run for over 200 though.
I agree on the officiating, I've voiced my opinion on Twitter about the officiating of the game to some blowback but not too much. I just don't think refs should be the story of a game and the most part they were. That is not to take away the fact that Varina had some gaffes... I saw it against Hanover. If they are to compete for a state title next year that has to be addressed in the offseason.I expected KG to win that game. Nobody wanted to believe me when I said Varina wouldn’t make it past them.

Danny, I watched it on the NFHS broadcast. It was impossible to see the subtle calls such as holding on that type of broadcast. However, without the advantage of a replay, the officiating did not appear to be the problem. The procedure calls were all legit, and pretty obvious. Nobody to point the finger at there but the players. Were there an enormous number of flags? No question there. Was the officiating crew a little over zealous? Hard for me to say from my remote vantage point. You were there, so I’ll defer to your opinion. But to me, the fault lies with sloppy, undisciplined play more so than exceptionally poor officiating.I agree on the officiating, I've voiced my opinion on Twitter about the officiating of the game to some blowback but not too much. Will be interesting to see how Varina transforms from this season to next with Derricott and Keys, both playmakers the last two seasons having played their last game.
I agree on the officiating yesterday. I only questioned one no call in a hold. I thought they let the kids decide the game. Very experienced and smart crew.Danny, I watched it on the NFHS broadcast. On a related note, and you and I had the same vantage point, I thought the officiating for our game with Hanover was extremely good. Your opinion?

Yep Varina had a very good team last year and could afford to make silly mistakes and get away with it. Last year if Varina intercepted a pass and ran it back to the five yard line even if they had too many men on the field they would have scored even with the penalty. Always remember it's not what the referee calls it's what he doesn't call.. and it was a lot of holding in the game.
The game was officiated flawlessly from my vantage point. I can't think of a moment where I had to question a call nor do I recall many flags in general which speaks to the level of play by both teams and the refs who were a non-factor.Danny, I watched it on the NFHS broadcast. That’s what you always hope to see. Good clean play and only the absolute most necessary penalties called so that the players decide the game. The game was officiated flawlessly from my vantage point.
