VHSL Season Scenarios

He was supposed to announce his plans Tuesday and did not. Then he said he'd make an announcement on Thursday and did not. I think he'll hold off for awhile.

Maybe the WHO announcement yesterday and reported by CNBC, Bloomberg and Cnn that they found it is RARE for asymtomatic carriers of the virus to spread it to secondary people will have an impact. The use of marks is of benefit to those with current symptoms. Their use by all others is therefore is questionable and provably not needed anymore.

Interested to hear this clarification they put out today. Seems like they’re nervous it’s being misinterpreted.

It’s accurate but WHO is just trying to “clarify” it under pressure from others who do not agree. Typical these days. Everybody waffles under pressure.

My take on it is that they don’t have new guidance that masks are unnecessary, just that they have some tracing data from a few countries that seems to point toward Asymptomatic spread being more rare than originally thought. Also seeing info that some of that data is in question due to some of the countries grouping asymptomatic and presymptomatic together.

Who do we think is pressuring the WHO to make this clarification? Certainly not our federal government.

Various epidemiologist from other countries who disagree with the research. WHO stated virus efforts should be concentrated on individuals with symptoms as this is the primary spreader. One can easily infer the total requirement on cloth face masks ( which only filter 65%) on those with no symptoms which is the vast majority of people is of little concrete value. Here in James City county for many weeks the case volume has been negligible and hospitalizations and deaths at a near standstill This was all during a period with no masks required. What’s occurred is the warm weather and natural run of any virus,

The problem is asymptomatic vs. Pre-symptomatic. The people who will never display symptoms unlikely to spread it, but some who have virus, and are not showing symptoms yet, are likely to spread. And all those people look the same until some start showing symptoms later.

Right, that’s what I’m seeing. I know people are looking for a smoking gun that makes life return to normal, but we’re not there yet. At least as far as reliable scientific evidence tells us.

Your right, WHO announcement looks like much less helpful than at first glance. Back to square 2.
