Week 11 is the final week of our regular season, so there has been a lot more clarity in everyone's playoff situation. The VISAA provides the possible playoff scenarios.
DIVISION I
Benedictine has clinched a first-round home game and Bishop Ireton has clinched a playoff berth. Collegiate and Liberty Christian can both clinch a playoff spot with a win in their final games. Everyone else is looking for a win and some help.
No one who was in the hunt for a playoff spot last week has been statistically eliminated; everyone from the top of the list down to Norfolk Academy is still playoff-eligible. The IFs, ANDs, and BUTs of this division are still pretty numerous, but here are a few possible situations and their outcomes:
In any scenario where Benedictine beats LCA, Benedictine will be the #1 seed.
In any scenario where both Benedictine and Bishop Ireton lose, Benedictine will be the #1 seed and Liberty Christian will be the #2 seed. Bishop Ireton could drop all the way to #4 if this scenario combines with a Collegiate win over St. Chris (Collegiate would be #3 in that case).
In any scenario where Benedictine loses or ties BUT Bishop Ireton wins, Bishop Ireton will be the #1 seed and Benedictine will be the #2 seed.
In any scenario where Collegiate beats St. Christopher's, Collegiate makes the playoffs; they could be anywhere from #2 (if JPG beats Ireton) to #4 (if Ireton and LCA both win).
The LCA-Benedictine game is a make-or-break game for LCA. Win, they're in the playoffs. Lose, they're out. However, if they win, they can be seeded no lower than 3rd. They would be seeded 2nd if Bishop Ireton loses or ties; they would be 3rd if Bishop Ireton wins.
St. Christopher's can only make the playoffs IF:
1.) St. Christopher's DEFEATS Collegiate AND
2.) Two of the following three results occur:
a.) Benedictine DEFEATS OR TIES Liberty Christian AND
b.) Bishop Ireton DEFEATS OR TIES John Paul the Great
c.) Bishop Sullivan DEFEATS OR TIES Norfolk Academy
Norfolk Academy is the only contender not playing a D-I game this week-- their game against Bishop Sullivan, however, is an extremely lucrative game, points-wise. They have to win to get in, but they will need help as well.
Norfolk Academy can be the #3 seed in the following scenario:
1.) Norfolk Academy DEFEATS Bishop Sullivan AND
2.) St. Christopher's DEFEATS OR TIES Collegiate AND
3.) Benedictine DEFEATS OR TIES Liberty Christian AND
4.) Bishop Ireton DEFEATS OR TIES St. John Paul the Great
In the above scenario, Norfolk Academy can still make the playoffs as the #4 seed IF situation 3 or 4 fail, but not both.
If Collegiate DEFEATS St. Christopher's, Norfolk Academy would need losses or ties by BOTH Liberty Christian and John Paul the Great to make it in as #4.
