W&L at Rappahannock

Rapp won over W&L 16-0.

Game was not even that close - Rapp fumbled 4 times inside the 5 about to score (2 or 3 fumbles into end zone).

This was surprising to many -

Congrats to the Raiders and Coach West and staff.

another interesting big result in 1A football -

Raiders are looking good as some Rapp posters were predicting. Maybe West Point is a tad better as well.

Also, I am feeling better and better about the Northumberland Indians. The Indians have lots of talent and a great, dedicated coaching staff. The Indians have only had one full game so we will have to wait and see...I think they got a good shot at the NND this year....

Gonna be a good fight to the end.

What makes you feel "better and better" about the Northumberland Indians? They are in the same boat as Essex. Both teams are one man shows, Dameron in Essex and Palmer in Northumberland.

I would say the same with Rappahannock with Gaines. You are making assumptions with Northumberland. They only have one game in how much can you really know about them. They have speed and talent other than Palmer on that team. Now with recently transfer QB Mason Adams from 6A Colonial Forge who actually started the first two games for Colonial Forge. Just made this team better

So u saying Rappahannock only has one player (Gaines). The game I watched last night they have some good talent around him O-line & skill players.

@nnkalumni2: Now with recently transfer QB Mason Adams from 6A Colonial Forge who actually started the first two games for Colonial Forge. Just made this team better.
I'm afraid the info you have been told about Adams is not true as you can see by the stat lines below for Colonial Forge's first two games. Maybe he started somewhere else, but in the opener vs. Patriot he did not run the ball or throw it. In the second game vs. Albemarle Colonial Forge's first quarter touchdown was thrown by Madden Lowe a Riverbend transfer who beat out Adams for the job in the preseason.
Now, I'm not saying Adams is not talented, just that the info below simply confirms that he did not start Colonial Forge's first two games at QB.

RUSHING: Colonial Forge—Ernesto Bowen 16-173, 2TD; Madden Lowe 7-53, TD; William Berris 1-(-3); Jordan Savoy 2-4; Jamal Thomas 1-4; Joshua Johnson 2-9, TD. Patriot—Jahmia Marcelle 1-(-3); Jalen Stroman 2-6; Chris Sonnenberg 5-(-8); Jacob Carter 11-26, TD; John Allen 1-1; Marcus McKay 3-1.

PASSING: Colonial Forge—Madden Lowe 11-17-1, 77, 2TD. Patriot—Chris Sonnenberg 25-28-1, 259, 4TD.

Colonial Forge 14 7 14 10 45
Albemarle
0 7 0 0 7
First Quarter

CF—Zack Kindel 54 pass from Madden Lowe (Phillip Lovelace kick).

CF—Paten Rodier 21 fumble recovery (Lovelace kick).

Delvin Palmer, kj Gaines, kj dameron, Chris dameron, jj McNeil are all star players of the nnd who some might say carry their teams. But let's not forget they each play with 10 other men who help make them stars. We need to stop with this, that school is a one man show. Because 10 other men put their bodies out on the field with one goal in mind and that's win.

I agree & in terms of Rapp keep playing team ball one game at a time.

Northumberland best shot to win the NND is now! Essex Dameron is banged up , Dameron is not a high contact back just wonder will Essex increase/ decrease his work load ?

New Northumberland QB Mason Adams (JR) looks to heavily improve an already strong NND contender in the Indians. I look forward to seeing Adams and all the Indians finally back in action this Friday night.

If the word on the street is correct, it could be one heck of a season for Northumberland.

6A power Colonial Forge recently graduated 3 year star QB Ethan Garwood. The CF heir apparent was JV QB standout Mason Adams. It is said that Riverbend star Madden Lowe moved and he and Mason were to battle for the CF job.

Mason now lives in Northumberland is playing for the Indians. Smart, nice, savvy young man. We welcome him and his addition to an already strong team...Should be fun.

Yes I was told he was a starter but we will see how good he is. A 6A 2nd string who probably would’ve been the starter if the transfer didn’t come in comes down to the 1A should make a difference but time will tell.

I read earlier this summer that O line was Northumberlands weakness. Is this still the case? If so, 6A or not they will have trouble throwing the ball if he cant stand upright

In the one and a half games they have played the line wasn't too bad. But still haven't played enough to tell yet.

They was only labeled as a weekness because they graduated 3 of their linemen. Line look pretty good in the game I saw but time will tell

It seems to me that the last couple seasons there seems to be posters from about 3 or 4 local schools that continuously love to speak negatively about Northumberland's recent success on the gridiron.

After about 20 years (except for a decent year or two) of NHS suffering basically really poor seasons, I guess some folks want the Indians to stay down. Even if no NHS supporters say anything against another team, the naysayers love to spring up. I really love how fans of a certain team Northumberland has destroyed two years in a row still have issues.

It has been sometime indeed since the Indians took the NND crown - maybe Northumberland will prove the doubters wrong this year....we shall see....Go Indians!

Stop dry crying lol No1 is obligated to root for your team or NHS for that matter. Just bc sum1 doesnt praise your school doesnt mean they are talking bad. Keep this same energy when Northumberland lose to those local schools you are referencing. Mad bc ppl dont believe in you over hyping a team.

This is a msg board so take a chill pill lol

lol.

87 to 15. The combined scores of the last two seasons.

I can assure you - no crying at all....I wonder if there will be a third whipping in a row- probably so, but maybe that's just the hype talking.

If Northumberland happens to beat Rapp this year it won't be a "whippin" but I highly don't they beat them. Maybe this transfer QB will help or he might be part of that NHS hype train too

Well for 1, I don't feel as their 2nd tier (Palmer = 1st tier) "athletes" are on par with other teams in the district. So combine that with the loss of a few key lineman I feel that they are the 4th or 5th best team in the district. As of right now I would rank the teams this way:
1. Colonial Beach
2. Essex (fading)
3. Rapp (believe they can challenge for NND title)
4. W&L
5. Northumberland
6. Lancaster

Well that's your opinion and hey we all have ours. One last thing what does a 1st tier like Palmer have that say a Caleb Davis, Collin saunders,Ques Morris, or keon Redmond not have (just naming the captains)

Well Palmer is a threat to score everytime he touches the ball from anywhere on the field. Those other guys are good pieces but not the same caliber as Palmer.
For the record, I don't think Northumberland sucks

Hey uvacavs1, are you updating your Top 10?

Yes, at this point with all the postponements and games not finished yet and since it is game day in just a few hours, I will go ahead and wait until after this weekend's games to work on one. It looks like there are some games this Saturday as well like Riverheads.

Should be an interesting and challenging top ten - which makes it even more fun to think about.

There are only a few players with the athletic caliber of Palmer in the entire state (Class A).

Football and Basketball.

True I remember him playing youth football in Northumberland. He was very good athlete back then but it will take more then one player to win the NNK District Championship this year.

I think we all agree that it will take a complete team effort to take the NND title.

My point was that yes, Palmer is an exceptional athlete. However, many Northumberland fans are very optimistic about this season because we feel that the Indians possess many strong pieces (players) this season to compliment Palmer and help the team win and make a playoff run. If opponents just focus on Palmer, NHS can exploit that (we hope).

We also feel that the coaching staff is preparing the team well and fixing issues that hurt the team in the past (like poor line play, turnovers, lack of structure and discipline, etc.)

Obviously, others do not agree and feel that NHS only has Palmer to worry about- that is okay with me. Again, we will just have to see how it plays out....

Also, I am not ready to discount Essex just yet. I was really surprised at their horrible start, I admit. However, if they get it together, they will be hard to stop.

When does their star Dameron return?

I was told the week of the King William game that Dameron was out as a precaution. That made me feel like it was just for that game. Due to the weather we’ve been getting, Essex has not played a game since the K.W. game on the 7th. So that’s 2 weeks to recover from any minor injuries and to work on their game as a team. Next week Essex plays Surry on Tuesday the 25th and at 3A Thomas Jefferson (Richmond) at 4pm.
