Way to early 2020 top five

Lake Taylor
Salem
Dinwiddie
Broad Run
Eastern View

No Patrick Henry (Ashland), Louisa or Lafayette?
I don't know enough about PH. Was it a great run at the end of the yr or an idea of what to expect from them. Louisa supposedly is going into a small rebuild according to other posters. Is Churchland going to build on this season and push LT next yr? Several teams out East might move up into the top 5

People will need to see repeat success from PH to give them that kind of preseason respect. For a program that is traditionally mediocre at best, they need to start stringing together multiple 12-13+ game seasons to prove that things have changed. As it stands right now, it looks like they caught lightning in a bottle and that's probably the general consensus of most everyone here.

@1MoreHokie, you have made some valid points and normally I would agree with you, but PH has some nice young talent returning. They lost their do everything stud Sikkar, but to be honest if they dont bring in their sophomore backup qb against us they don't win. He can run it and throw it. I don't know if they can win Region B again, but they will be a top 4 threat.

I refuse to guess on the rest of the regions. I will leave that up to the experts and just stick to region b contenders.

Monacan, was a lot like Dinwiddie this past season. They were young and talented, but the injury bug hit them hard. If they can square up some eligibility issues and keep a few players from transferring out I look for the Chiefs to be a threat. Hensley and his receivers cause dc's heartburn. Very scary group.

Like everyone else I was surprised by Louisa's early dismissal from the playoffs; however, unlike some close to the program I believe Coach Patrick is a fantastic young coach who will continue to grow the Lions program. Yes, they lose a ton, but Louisa will make some noise come playoff time. May be a year away, but I will not be surprised by another 9 or 10 win season.

Even though I gripe about their weak schedule I really like the EV program. The athletic director is super smart and Coach Hatfield always finds the talent. They lose some serious playmakers and will have their third qb in three years, but I am sold on the Cyclone program. A 10 win regular season is highly likely.

Powhatan, has some talent, but the very tough Dominion District can wear teams down. Honestly, the district will be even better in 2020, so once again Powhatan could be on the outside looking in come playoff time. I just don't see their style of play creating many challenges when they face teams who are more physically and athletically gifted.

I know Courtland suffered some injuries early and chose to play the younger guys, but there is always tons of expectation that has not played out in several years. I have been promised by someone I truly respect that the 2020 team will be the real deal. The young Cougars took some knocks in 2019. Let's see if it pays off.

King George may be the quiet suprise. Mutter and company have some nice talent coming back. The key is the interior line play. Spotsylvania, has some studs back and could surely be a threat to unseat EV in the district. Don't know a lot about the boys from Post Oak, but they earned some respect last year.

Top 8 Region B qualifiers no certain order.
PH
EV
Louisa
Monacan
King George
Spotsylvania
Huguenot
Dinwiddie

Iffy: Chancellor, Powhatan and Courtland

I do believe LT, Salem, and Tuscarora/Broad Run are the early favorites to win their regions. We know Region B will be a war(4 different winners in the past 4 years) and the champ must get by LT to get to the show. There is a team who has gotten it done before and suprisingly holds a winning record against the Spartans (2-1) and Titans (2-1). Wonder who? Lol, I am just having having a little fun. Like the title says way too early.

Salem May be 2 but I think there is a gap after LT. Hope the boys are dedicated as a team in the weight room and can close the gap. Good group coming back if they work hard.

Both teams will gladly give you those for state titles. :p:p:eek::eek::eek::D:eek:

Come on @freeatlast2013 you can do better than that. That response is stale. I know its hard for the Spartee faithful, but you need to own it brother. :p Come on man, give the Generals some love for coming into the Salem's house and winning in 2017 despite Santa Clause and his elves. lol There is not a coach around who likes to lose. Especially to a well respected team. I know for sure the losses in 2016 (Salem) and 2014 (LT), motivated Coach Mills. If you don't believe me look at the highlights from Channel 10 (Roanoke) after Dinwiddie beat Salem in 2017. Coach Mills response says it all! Have a blessed holiday Free. Stay safe.

Editors note: The two victories over LT (2013 and 2016) occurred in state final seasons. The two victories over Salem (2017 and 2018) did not result in a state final appearance. Our hopes and dreams died in the regional finals (Louisa and EV).

Heres some stats for you Free. Since Realignment in 2013 (7 seasons) only 6 teams have made it to the finals. 3 from Regions A&B and 3 from Regions C&D. Each region has at least 1 title. Region D 3, Region A 2, Region B 1 and Region C 1. If you really want to be picky the old west has 4 titles and the old east has 3.

Salem - 4 appearances: 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. 3 titles: 2015, 2016, and 2017
Lake Taylor - 4 appearances: 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2019. 2 titles: 2014 and 2019
Dinwiddie - 2 appearances 2013 and 2016. 1 title: 2013
Woodgrove - 1 appearance 2018. 1 title 2018.
Sherando - 1 appearance: 2013.
Louisa - 1 appearance 2017.

I guess so @Lafayette with how well ya'll recruit Virginia (joke). May be a Class 6 team if you can get Bruton and Jamestown to fold. Just own the "Burg"!

Region A: Lake Taylor
Region B: Dinwiddie
Region C: Broad Run
Region D: Salem
I believe there wii be 2 competitive semifinals.

Final: Lake Taylor vs Salem

My brain says Lake Taylor, but my gut says Salem is going to return to it's champion ways. Salem it is.

Speaking for Salem fans, if I may, whenever we see Santa Claus we all grumble too. No one has any idea what's going on, especially SC! ;)

Broad Run without their Wake Forrest commit? By the way congrats to their QB for signing today.

His brother is the next QB and played well when older brother was out. Didn't look good vs Tusky coming in 3rd quarter

I think the question for BR will be who will replace Romy Miner, Chaz Allison, Kesean Dyson, Jack Fielding, Lance Lacney, Bennett Millar, Cam Chambers, and Robbie Laylan who all are all All Region players. The younger Griffis has promise but, I don’t see BR being able to overcome the graduation of impact players this year.

Broad Run always reloads. Younger Griffis will hit the ground running. The experience this year will pay dividends. Tuscarora will be right there going neck and neck with BR. I think the Northwest District will make some ground but not have enough to overcome BR and Tusky.

I don’t know about that. Chris Moore, Travis Fulgham, Meech Hembry, Tim Baldwin, Mitch Griffis, Kesean Dyson and Romy Miner were all explosive game changers that have made BR a force. I don’t see any of those players in their program currently. Just my opinion.

I will do some research. I've known the program a long time and they are always deep at every grade level. It seems like every year new all district/region players arise. It's a great program/coaching situation just like Tuscarora/ Stone Bridge. My opinion was based on that. I have a feeling younger Griffis will be a game changer like his brother and be the difference next year. I've seen your posts over the last few years and you know your NOVA football. Tuscarora will be very good again and returning players have State Championship experience. I think that experience was key to Lake Taylor's big win over a strong Tuscarora team.

Coach V, appreciate the insight. Will you go for any of the jobs open in Loudoun?

Not my place to announce , leave it up to the players or team if they want it out there. I only know one transfer, but it’s a “Bobby Dazzler”.
