Congrats to both teams on a great and exciting game - well done to West Point.

WP is the real deal - your man Porter and the line was awesome.

I hope the young man who was injured is okay. Thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Congrats to Northumberland on holding on to win 31-26 in another thriller in the playoffs v West Point (last year was 33-31).

West Point was just without mercy with the punishing back Porter. NHS kept trying to deliver the knock out blow with the passing game and WP just methodically kept doing their power running game.

NHS D held at the end in a nail biter -

(9-3) Essex at (11-1) Northumberland for the Region A title (round two).

Essex has been to this game countless times. This will be the 1st trip to the Region A championship for Northumberland since 1996.

Winner gets a trip to states and to see the Big Red team at home, in Riverheads.

Doesn’t Riverheads still have to win two games to get to this game? I gotta admit I like your thinking but there is plenty of football to play before that happens, lol.

I understand that Riverheads needs to not completely overlook their opponents in Region B.

However, I would say Riverheads has a 96 to 99% shot of winning those games. Vegas odds would have to give at least 30 points for anyone to take the bet.

While I have confidence we have the capability to win, I would argue that Altavista plays one of if not the toughest schedule in 1A. William Campbell also plays quality teams so losses don’t always indicate a “down” year. I don’t say this to be inflammatory but there aren’t many 1A teams that would have an equal or better record against their schedule. So I do not take any of them lightly. I only need to look at 2014 to what can happen when an on paper matchup turns south.

My hope is that the Red team practices on Thanksgiving and wins on Black Friday. As I am sure anyone that has been on here a while has heard Longtimerhsfan say, this would be the first time hosting a semifinal game if we are fortunate enough to win the games to get there.

I am anxious to see how the Region A finals turns out as there are two quality teams playing in hat game. Best of luck to both and we will see how the Region B side turns out. At least that’s my take on all this business.

No disrespect to Northumberland, but I'm glad they won...I think Essex matches up better with them then West Point. I was much more concerned with west Points running game.

The blueprint to beat Essex is spread them out and throw the ball. NHS should use the same blue print they did vs WP. Move Palmer around and pass the ball. Essex secondary is suspect.

. I agree northumberland’s passing attack is what they will need to rely on and definitely giving Palmer a lot of touches it’ll be interesting because WP’s Porter ran well on northumberland which is expected of Dameron as well as Day. Whoever’s defense steps up is what it’ll come down to.

NHS #12 has a quick release and his extremely accurate. It’s hard to pressure him because of his quick release. Essex will need to play bump and run to disrupt the timing on the route or have skilled DBs to match NHS receivers or NHS will Pick Essex secondary apart like the Did WP. I don’t think Essex has the LBs WP has so Palmer in the backfield or at QB will probably give Essex problems too. I think NHS puts up 200 yards passing and wins by two scores.
