In a game full of penalties that consistently thwarted Mount Vernon and caused Westfield to work more than they should have, Westfield won 49-6.

Mount Vernon received the ball to start the game but on their second play from scrimmage MV's Grimsley threw an INT that WF's Cardenas returned 15 yards for a 7-0 WF lead (Weimann XP) just 46 seconds into the game. MV's next possession led to three consecutive penalties deep in their own territory before they punted the ball back to WF at the MV 48 yard line. WF methodically drove down the field and scored on a 2 yard run (I missed the number) to extend the lead to 14-0 (Wiemann XP) with 5:09 remaining in the first quarter. MV started their next possession on their own 20 yard line, gained zero yards, and punted again. WF's Morin fielded the punt and returned it to the MV two yard line, but a penalty early in the return nullified the play and pushed WF all the way back to the WF 43 yard line. However, it wasn't long before Carlson found Lee with a 17 yard pass along the visitor's sideline and the WF lead was extended to 21-0 (Wiemann XP) just seconds before the first quarter ended. MV went three and out on their next possession and WF started on the WF 45 yard line. After a few plays WF's Duda went around the right side, broke some tackles, and flew down the right sideline from 35 yards out for another WF score, 28-0 (Weimann XP) with 8:35 remaining in the half. MV finally got a first down on their next possession but stalled and punted again to the WF 25 yard line. WF's Coffield fielded the ball, ran to his right back across the field, and took it back 55 yards to the MV 20 yard line. On the first play from scrimmage WF's Carlson found Morin for a 20 yard TD pass to extend the lead to 35-0 (Weimann XP) with 5:05 remaining in the half. MV took to the KO back at their own 20 yard line and had some success moving the ball to where they had a first down at midfield. On this first down play MV's Grimsley looked to pass and was quickly pressured. In the grasp of a WF defender, he heaved the ball out of bounds one yard short of the LOS - but the refs missed that call. Instead, they called two consecutive penalties against WF, one on the missed intentional grounding and one on the next play that put MV on the WF 18 yard line. MV then drove to the WF three yard line where they had a first and goal. After two running plays netted zero yards and a third down sack lost six yards, Grimsley finally found Moret in the back left corner of the end zone and Moret made a great catch to give MV a score with 5 seconds left in the half. Ernst's XP was blocked by WF's Lucas and the teams went to the locker room with WF leading 35-6.

WF started the second half with the ball on the MV 40 yard line after a 32 yard KO return by Duda. On the first play WF's BJ Johnson went behind the right tackle and scored from 40 yards out to make it 42-6 (Wiemann XP) with 11:41 to play in the third quarter. MV's next possession ended in another punt and WF took over on their own 40 yard line. This time the drive ended with a one yard run by Duda and the lead was now 49-6 with 2:47 remaining in the third quarter. At this point both teams began substituting players and after two unsuccessful possessions by both teams the game ended 49-6.
