What are some "can't miss" games this year?

I know one game that will have one heck of an atmosphere in 2A and that is when Riverheads travels to R.E. Lee on 8/28 to face-off for the first time ever in varsity football.

The atmosphere for the Lee/Wilson game was the best one all year last year for the Lee crowd, and I look for the atmosphere for Lee/Riverheads to top that, just because this game has been talked about for YEARS.

Granted, Lee has been a little down as of late compared to years past, but this one will be awesome regardless of the outcome.

Glenvar vs Giles will likely be a much anticipated game as well.

A local game of interest for folks in Augusta County will be Waynesboro vs Riverheads as Waynesboro has played them pretty tough the past couple years, and a number of folks in the area think Waynesboro could be the best team in the SAW area, and may actually take down the gladiators this year.

What are some other big games that will likely have big time atmospheres this year?

Richlands vs Union Week 2. The last two years the game has been decided on the last play of the game. Bullitt Park will be packed in Big Stone Gap.

I've debated on skipping the Waynesboro-Wilson game to watch the Riverheads-Lee game but I don't think I will.


Like you said Giles-Glenvar will probably be a great atmosphere today.

I wasn't planning to go to this one despite the fact that I live less than a mile away. The more I think about it though, this is a hard one to pass up.

Giles plays Glenvar on a Saturday this season due to VT playing home on 10/9. The game will be on October 10th at 6pm at Glenvar

If the Blues werent playing Stonewall Jackson that night I would have considered going and checking it out. I have a feeling Page would have won last years matchup by 3 plus touchdowns. Not sure what either team has this year though.
