many teams these days have rec teams that eventually feed into middle school & jv/ varsity teams running the same offensive & defensive schemes as the older boys... I don't see the point in this. You have children learning a different offense every couple years if there are coaching changes at the varsity level while not really learning the basic mechanics and fundamentals of the sport. If a team switches coaches and changes its offense every couple of years a program will never be as good as a program with a dedicated coach and consistent style of play.

(This is kinda rambling but bear with me)

Even having a coach that sticks around isn't good enough if that coach decides he wants to run the veer for two years, pistol triple option for 1 and then switches to a spread running attack the 4th year in a students 4 year high school career. If teams want to be successful it needs to start at the AD/administration & they should pick a coach that fits a profile of what they want or what works. Not hire anyone with a winning record and assume they can win somewhere else.... Chip Kelly isn't coaching in super bowls is he?

So true.I will say I don't always agree with our Coach but atleast we've stayed with our coach for so many years.Like players, coaches get better if you just give them time.Sometimes its not about picking the winning coach but pick someone who is a good man and let him grow into the position. At Amherst the Asst coaches actually coach on the rec league teams also.
