Two young defensive backs are getting their reps in 6'2" Soph. Shawn Collins and 6'3" Jordan McDonald, also a Soph. Both had interceptions against Amherst.
As predicted , Salem is using four RB , usually swapping series. They are JR Chandler Sutphin, JR. Isaiah Persinger, Senior Bobby Pinello, and Soph. Zavione Wood.

Persinger had 20 carries for 150
Pinello, 240 pound bruiser was 7-55
Wood was 6-52
Salem had 325 yards rushing
Also, QB Gladden is still working with new group of receivers, working on timing. He was 8-13 for 145 and 2TD and one pick.

The 3 Sophomores that started on defense were #42 Zavione Wood OLB or Robber, (also played 2nd RB) #6 Jayden McDonald CB, and #9 Jorden McDonald CB. Freshman #11 Chauncey Logan CB also started. #80 Shawn Collins, also a Soph, came in to replace Jayden when he went out. He also played some as a WR in the first half. Shawn and Jorden both had interceptions and Chauncey nearly had one as well. Jorden also recovered a fumbled KO. #32 Kyjuan Waller Soph DE came in during the 3Q. The other 4 underclassmen finished the game, as #28 Cam Leftwich Fr RB scored a TD, #40 Landon Guthrie Soph FB, #10 Hunter Chaney Soph QB, and #55 Alex Haley Soph OL all did a good job. I was very impressed with the play of everyone in the first game, especially as young as the team is. (Basically 1/4 are underclassmen) Just 1 correction, Pinello FB/MLB is a Jr.

I thought 2015 was a young team, this one seems to exceed it. Next few years should be a lot of fun, especially at the skill positions. Going to be hearing these names a whole bunch.
