As we are seeing more and more schools releasing their 2024-25 schedules, what regional games are yall most looking forward to?

Mine are:

Eastern View @ Huguenot

Great early season matchup with what I’m guessing will be the losers only or first of 2 losses. Winner will hold the head to head come the final point rating

Varina @ Henrico

Don’t laugh at me for this one but I believe that Henrico will be very much improved in year 2 of their new staff. Could be a good mid season test for the blue devils

Eastern View @ King George

One regular season loss between the 2 teams last year could be the same this year. I imagine the winner of this game will be the highest seeded non 804 team in 4B

Phoebus @ Highland Springs

I know this isn’t a regional matchup but as a 804 guy I’m excited about seeing a team that one of our teams could possibly see later come to town

I cannot recall what it was but earlier this week I got to thinking about the teams who have been good but have not won a state title. Specifically I was thinking the best teams since the realignment of 2013, not all-time. Here is what I came up with for Class 2.

Ridgeview - 66% Win Pct. with a mark of 66-33

In region D, I'll say Union, Gate City, Tazewell and Graham will be top 4.

Tazewell may surprise some folks this season, they will have tremendous size along the line. If they develop a little bit of a run game behind the horses and keep teams from pinning their ears back and coming after the QB every play (Tazewell has been pretty one dimensional), then I think they can be dangerous. If they just drop back and toss it around, they will have another season similar to the past one. I'd like to see them become more dimensional, but I'll believe it when I see it.

How did his law suit go from a couple years ago?

Per the KQ county Facebook page on Friday, Coach Dehart is stepping down as head football coach and AD. In his letter to the community, he said he had accepted a position at another school. I'm not sure if he will continue to coach football or not, as I haven't personally spoken to him. He had an excellent 4 year run at King and Queen, highlighted by 3 straight Region A championship appearances. Unfortunately, they couldn't get over the hump, but just for a small school like KQ to make it 3 years in a row says a lot. There was nothing but support and compliments on the post, and he will definitely be missed by the KQ community. The head coach position is now up on the KQ schools website. I'll be curious to see who the next coach will be.

MC went on the road Thursday and defeated Strasburg 3-2 to wrap up their 3rd consecutive Bull Run regular season championship.
