Hats off to Falls Church for moving to 4-0, beating Yorktown 28-14 for their first win over the Patriots since 2005. Jaguars averaged 8.4 yds. in 35 carries. Senior Will Mejia and junior Anthony Crutchfield amassed almost all of the yardage with Crutchfield scoring a 57 yd. TD. Senior Brian Eck completed 3 TDs to Mejia. Jaguars held Patriots to 57 yards rushing. For Yorktown, senior Joe McBride was 19 for 34 with a completely bogus pick (see video) and a TD pass to senior Parker Dean. Senior Charlie Tiene had a terrific 36 yd. TD to senior Tanner Patton, off a McBride lateral. Other Yorktown highlights included junior Travis Clark-Winston's 36 yd. run after a short pass from McBride, junior Mehran Roshanaei's 54 yd. FG attempt that hit 1/3 up the goal post before bouncing on the the cross bar and senior Tayvon Brown's 34 yard catch and run.

Yorktown vs Falls Church Video Highlights

Yes, every team has to play through the breaks and the officiating was actually very good in this game. But when I can see the ball bounce on the field from 50 yards away and with the closest player, #8 Will Mejia of Falls Church, signaling an incomplete pass, many were stunned by the call. The official in the center of the field was clearly out of position to make the call since he was screened by the falling players, while the side judge had a perfect view of the ball bouncing on the turf, but somehow did not see it. Credit Connor Stephens for signaling that he made the pick when he clearly knew that was not the case. It's just embarrassing to see two officials hoodwinked by a player.

It is certainly unfortunate that a mistake was made. Are you saying that this is why Yorktown lost the game?

The call was too early in the game to say that it impacted the final outcome. It was 7-0 Falls Church in the 1st quarter. Yorktown was in Jaguars territory for the second time, moving the ball with relative ease. It was a first down throw. Who knows whether Pats would have scored on that series and tied the game? The point is that an obvious bad call changed the game at that point. There were only two turnovers in the game, so that call did loom larger as the game progressed.

whats that song from "Frozen", let it go. let it go..let it go...
refs are human...and I hope for Yorktown's sake those refs are not reading this stream..

I now have it on good authority that the 'bad call' was ruled a fumble, not an interception on the field.
Even though it was recorded as an interception by the Press Box.
