Broad Run Class of 2023 offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier has certainly been a hard guy to miss since his freshman year when he quickly found the starting lineup for Matt Griffis' Spartans. After all, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman that can effectively line up and perform at tackle, guard or center is pretty rare.
To no surprise, Birchmeier is widely regarded as one of the best prospects in the country, regardless of position, among the rising juniors. In fact, he continues a recent run of dominant linemen from the state that includes Robinson grad Tristan Leigh (now at Clemson) as well as 2022 talents set to announce their pledge soon in LCA's Zach Rice and Lord Botetourt's Gunner Givens along with Graham's Brody Meadows (UVA commit).
Birchmeier gave a commitment on Thursday afternoon to the Penn State Nittany Lions of the Big Ten.
