Cape Henry needed overtime to defeat Norfolk Collegiate 67-60 after blowing a 16-point lead. A.J Sweeney scored six of his 19 points in overtime and Sebastian Whitfield added 18 points for the Dolphins.
Norfolk Collegiate trailed 47-35 heading into the 4th quarter but made their comeback behind point guard Rashaad Williams who scored nine points in the quarter. The Oaks took the lead 49-48 on a layup by Williams with 2:22 remaining. They had several chances to grow the lead but they missed 4 of 7 free throws in the 4th quarter which setup the game tying basket.
Junior Justin Hunter went baseline and converted a short jumper at the buzzer for his only points of the game to tie the score at 56.
In overtime, the Dolphins took the lead for good on a huge 3-point shot from Sebastian Whitfield with 50 seconds remaining. Sweeney made 4 of 4 free throws to seal the Dolphins win. In addition to his 19 points, Sweeney also chipped in four assists and three steals. Parker Wight (13) and Martez Harris (12) controlled the boards while combining for 25 rebounds and 12 points.
Norfolk Collegiate was led by junior Brennan Chatman with 16 points including two 3-point baskets. Williams finished with 15 points as did senior C.J Cason who made five 3-pointers.
