Last week the season got kicked off with several good games! Now the holiday weekend will get going with some more good action as many teams will try to get into a good rhythm and find out if week 1's production was for real. King & Queen Central Royal Tigers got off to an exciting start by beating Colonial Beach in 3 overtimes! Essex pulled away from Sussex Central to show that they've reloaded. Rappahannock looked strong versus Nandua. And Northumberland showed offensive and defensive superiority in their season opener.

KING & QUEEN CENTRAL (1-0) at WINDSOR (0-0)

The Royal Tigers got a wake up call that being ranked won't be easy especially with a tougher schedule. Friday night they travel to the Palace to face the Dukes! Windsor is looking to have learned from their spring play and expects to have much better production. The big question is can the Dukes keep Malik Holmes and the Royal Tigers offense in check enough to have a chance.

Bottomline: The atmosphere should be electric for at least most of the 1st. The secondary will get tested big time for the Dukes and their pass rush will be the key.

Prediction: King & Queen Central 40 Windsor 14

GREENSVILLE COUNTY (0-0) at NOTTOWAY (1-0)

The Eagles will look to come out soaring with their talented quarterback Jayden White running the show. Greensville County defeated Nottoway in the 2019 playoffs in a shootout which was much different than the regular season 6-0 win by the Cougars. Kendel Blue will be leading the rushing attack and Anthony Brown and the line will have the task of locking down Tyler Banks and the Cougar relentless defense.

Bottomline: The Eagles will need the connection between the receivers and qb to be in mid-season form to leave Crewe victorious.

Prediction: Nottoway 20 Greensville County 12

ESSEX (1-0) at JAMESTOWN (0-1)

The Trojans will be facing the Jamestown Eagles I-formation offense that will feature a lot of play action passing. Unless the Eagles can connect better on their passing game it won't be much of a contest. Essex has a huge speed advantage that should favor a big game from Kameron Johnson. Dorian Harris will get a lot of attention and has the shiftiness to free himself into the open field.

Bottomline: Essex defense should steal the spotlight by not biting on the play action.

Prediction: Essex 48 Jamestown 20

SPECIAL NOTE: Labor Day Classic, Amelia County visit Franklin Monday for a 5pm kickoff.
The Broncos highly anticipated debut is expected to have a huge crowd!
