Takeyo Day found daylight on a big run as Essex found the spark they needed.


TAPPAHANNOCK- Essex homecoming night was a joyous occasion, especially on the football field. The Trojans did whatever they planned to do and got a boast of confidence offensively which will be important going forward. Avante Banks got things started early on the very first drive breaking loose on a 22-yard run for the score. KJ Dameron would get the conversion to make it 8-0 Trojans.

Lancaster's best drive was their first drive as they marched deep into Essex territory. The Red Devils appeared to have scripted a great opening drive until the decided to go for a touchdown pass outside the Essex 20. Tae Veney's pass would fall short and into the hands of the Trojan's Isiah Clark. The Red Devils would not threaten to score again.

The Red Devils lone effective drive would be a forgotten memory by quarters end.



Dameron would break loose from 35 yards out to make it 16-0 as he again got the conversion. Takeyo Day would go from 30 yards out and Dameron would add a 16 yard run. Essex would stop going for two points and led 30-0 at the end the first.

The powerful back Dameron would break his 3rd run going from 54 yards out to make it 37-0 Trojans. Banks would get his second score with a 25 yard run for a score. Dameron would close things out with a 44 yard run to end the scoring at 51-0 at the half.

The Trojans would take their foot off the gas from that point. By quickly took care of business, Essex now has a chance to improve their seeding and possibly give them a home game in the first round.

Dameron rushed for 198 yards off 7 carries and 4 touchdown to lead the Trojans. Coach Todd Jones group will travel next Friday night Montross to face rival Washington & Lee. Lancaster will travel up to Westmoreland County as well as they face Colonial Beach.

KING WILLIAM 52 BLUE RIDGE 16

King William filled a void on their schedule by playing Blue Ridge school on Thursday night. The Cavs go the only points of the 1st with a 10 yard run by Marc Gresham. The 2nd quarter would have Blue Ridge come alive but King William would distance themselves behind the legs of Kolbe Jorgenson as he rushed 20 times for 152 yards and 3 touchdowns. Travis Gilbertson would led all carriers with 9 carries for 156 yards. King William will host West Point for the Tidewater district title.

RAPPAHANNOCK 27 WASHINGTON & LEE 6

Washington & Lee had jumped out to an early lead thanks to a 15 yard scamper by LJ Kelly. From there however Rappahannock would erase the 6-0 lead as KJ Gaines would rush for a 10 yard score and the defense would return a fumble 40 yards for a score. Gaines would add 2 more runs as Rappahannock moves to 7-1 on the season.
