KJ Dameron fueled the Trojan Explosion in the second half.

TAPPAHANNOCK- Coming off the big upset last week, the Eagles were looking to capture more moment to try to make this an even more memorable season. Early on it did look as if it was possible. Washington & Lee’s defense would hold Essex offense frustrated early as the Trojans couldn’t keep a strong drive going. The Eagles offense would not have much more success.

Washington & Lee received a huge run from Jawun Tolson off the option and would find themselves with an opportunity to go up and spark some excitement in the defensive stuggle. The Eagles would be inside the Essex 20 when AJ Crabbe got a big hit on Eagle’s quarterback Chase Scott. Scott would have to leave due to injury and so would the scoring hopes for Washington & Lee.

Essex would try to get some points before the half but the kick would be short and the game was scoreless at the half. Washington & Lee felt good about what they had done and the Trojan were making the necessary corrections to run wild in the 2nd half. Run wild they definitely would!

Craig Mountjoy got off some impressive runs in but W&L couldn't score early.

KJ Dameron would set up the first score with a big 30-yard run setting up his 9 yard touchdown run and he would get the conversion to make it 8-0 Essex. While the Eagles couldn’t get going offensively, Dameron would break a 35 yard run down to the 1 yard line in which he would ramble through on the next play and get the conversion to make it 16-0 Essex with 7:45 in the 3rd.

Essex would then recover the squib attempt which would hit an Eagle player preventing it from bouncing around much. Washington & Lee was falling a part defensively as Dameron would get his 3rd touchdown as he went in from 8 yards out. Antwan Greene would get the conversion and Essex led 24-0 with 1:46 left in the 3rd.

Avante Banks is always a block away from going the distance.

Essex would wrap up their scoring with 39 yard run by Avante Banks with 5:22 left to play. Coach Todd Jones and staff had made some superb halftime adjustments to give their offense the fuel needed to be successful as they looked like a complete different squad.

Washington & Lee would break a big one when Tolson would go for a 64 yard touchdown to prevent the shutout. The Eagles finish their season with a 4-8 record. The Trojans will travel to Northumberland for the 1A Region A championship.

FLUVANNA- King William had been known for being explosive but it was the Bulldogs who took control early and won all 3 phases of the game. After a scoreless 1st quarter, Devin McCray got things going in the second when he burst out for a 36 yard touchdown run. Quincy Snead would then take the kick-off to start the 2nd half back 94 yards to give the Bulldogs some peace of mind.
