LaTarj House came up big early to help the Dragons match the Broncos 1st half production.

FRANKLIN- The Franklin Broncos had one more test in the tough start of their regular season schedule which was supposed to have been the icing on the cake for them. Instead the cake that had been cooking week after week would fall flat in the second half to 3A Park View to kick-off the Tri-Rivers district play.

After the defense held the Dragons in check on their first possession Franklin would get their shot. Things didn't start off rough as Franklin's Myroen Barrett would find Jamontre Jones for a perfect strike on a 55-yard yard touchdown to get the Broncos up early 7-0 with 9:29 left to play in the 1st.

Park View led by Senior quarterback Joshua Jones would not be outdone. Jones and Latarj House would have good runs driving the ball into Bronco territory. Franklin's defense appeared to be on their heals and Jones would take advantage hitting House in the flat for a 20-yard touchdown. Franklin's Juhan Carr would block the extra point to keep Franklin up 7-6 with 1:15 left in the first.

After the passing game went cold as ice, Franklin began to gallop down the field instead. Head coach Karl Robertson would go to his rushing attack which would put together their best and unfortunately only sustained drive of the game ending with LaSean Nichols-Porter going in from 1-yard out to make it 13-6 Broncos with 7:51 until the half.

Jones and the Dragons would respond. Jones would fine Jason Dugger deep to set up them up them up at the Broncos 5 yard line. From there House would cut his way into the endzone to make it 13-12 with the Dragons down by a point.

Coach Darren Parker was honored at halftime for his tenure as the Broncos head man.

At halftime, Franklin honored Coach Darren Parker who bought the school 2 state championships and the respect they still carry today. Parker was Franklin's head man from 2004-2017 posting 120-46 record during his tenure.

Franklin would get the ball to start the second half but nothing would go right for the Broncos. Nichols-Porter would lose hold of the ball on the half's first play which would set the Dragons up nicely. Ra'sean Coates would do the rest powering in for a 12-yard touchdown run to give Park View the lead 18-13 with 11:01 left in the 3rd.

SENIOR LEADERSHIP: Park View qb Joshua Jones threw 2 touchdowns and had no turnovers.

Following a great stop by the defense, Jones would step back and deliver a perfect pass on a flag route to Coates from 20-yards out for the touchdown. Coates would drag defenders with him for the 2-point conversion to make it 26-13 Dragons with 4:27 left in the 3rd.

Barrett would spend the rest of the half running for a fast Dragon defense that would shutdown the passing game. Senior cornerback Kion Gilliam (6 foot 2, 170 pounds) was able to blanket future Old Dominion wideout Drelyn Ford (6 foot 5, 210 pounds) and even got an interception in the 4th to ice the game.

Punt going astray into the endzone would add the final points for Park View for a safety. Coach Tony Whittingham and the Park View (2-2) will now face Greensville County at home.

Franklin will try to rebound on homecoming night versus Surry County next week.
