First year quarterback and sophomore Tyree Rose and the Tigers made it interesting Monday.

FRANKLIN 18 SUSSEX CENTRAL 14

FRANKLIN- LeSean Nichols-Porter broke a 6-6 tie going following a big strike to Dreyln Ford. Nichols-Porter would find a seam in the Tiger defense and go 10 yards for the touchdown to make it 12-6 Broncos with 1:32 left in the 2nd quarter.

The big play came in the 3rd quarter when freshman defensive end Tyson Garrett stepped in from of Franklin’s Myreon Barrett’s pass and would take it 54-yards for the touchdown. The Tigers would run the option on the conversion as Tyree Rose would make an excellent pitch to Imir Clark to give Sussex Central a 14-12 lead. At 10:56 mark in the 3rd.

Garrett, had appeared to have scored again for the Tigers on a tight screen but it was called back for a penalty killing the Sussex Central momentum. Franklin would respond following a late hit out of bounds, Barrett would bootleg left into the endzone to give Franklin the 18-14 lead in the 4th.

The Tigers would have one last chance on a game winning drive facing a 4th and 6 from the Bronco 15. Sussex Central elected to turn to Rose on a quarterback keeper to the short side of the field where they had numbers but it would be snuffed out by the Broncos Kemond Rogers resulting in a celebration for the Broncos.

Franklin (6-1) will next travel to Emporia to face a dangerous Greensville County Eagles (4-2) team. Sussex Central (2-5) faces a must win game at home versus Brunswick (2-4) in order to keep their now slim playoff hopes alive.
